UKseries.com using Google Maps
UKseries.com network of sites which includes UK Hotel, UK Attraction, UK Eating Out and a whole host of other sites under the same umbrella, and a recent major additiion to the suite has been the integration of the Google Maps API.
This enables us to produce maps not just of an individual hotel, but also the whereabouts of other nearby hotels or other forms of accommodation, tourist attractions, and so on, and to show how they all relate to each other geographically. For instance, if you wanted to find the nearest train station to The Ritz in London, you can do so via The Ritz map page. Similarly, if you were heading to London for a shopping spree, you could pull up the map of Harrods and see that you’re a short walk from the likes of Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey. And clicking on the satellite button in the top right hand corner of the map will display the scene in its full glory.
We currently have in excess of 24,500 points plotted across the whole of the UK, each one being clickable and taking the user to a page with further information and a photograph. Although the sites don’t cater exclusively for the luxury market, they do have plenty of luxury content. So next time you’re travelling in the UK, give it a whirl – it could save you a lot of planning.
Here’s a few further links that could be of interest to the luxury traveller:
