7 artists' reactions to a luxury island off the west coast of Ireland
The private island of Inish Turk Beg, available for hire off the West coast of Ireland, is a place where ‘Life’s Vividly Lived’. Home to award-winning accommodation, fine artisan whiskey and smoked fish, spectacular scenery and free-spirited adventure, the island has been a source of inspiration for those that go there – artists, musicians, and visitors alike.
For the second year running Chief Islander Nadim Sadek, in association with the Royal Hibernian Academy, is hosting an art exhibition in Dublin’s Monstertruck Gallery and Studios as a result of the successful artists’ residency held on the island of Inish Turk Beg in September 2010. From 16th–29th March 2011, ‘Life Vividly Lived, Part 2’ will celebrate the unique responses of seven artists to the island and showcase a broad range of expertise including photography, printmaking, drawing, painting, sculpture and installation. The widely-exhibited artists selected for this year’s residency have each created their own personal interpretation of the location’s breathtaking beauty and intoxicating spirit.
‘Live Vividly Lived, Part 2’ includes works from Nick Miller, Nina Tanis, Eilis O’Connell, David Farrell, Ruth E. Lyons, Michelle Considine and Shoichi Sakurai.
