The London hotel scene hots up for Summer

Even if the weather is not, the London hotel scene appears to be hotting up this summer, preparing itself for a number of high profile launches and revamps. The London EDITION, which is seen as hotelier Ian Schrager’s big return to the London scene (he launched Sanderson and St Martin’s Lane Hotel), is a collaboration with Marriott International. The 173 room hotel will feature a restaurant from celebrated chef Jason Atherton as well as nightclub, something which Ian Schrager is also known for.

Hip hotel group Ace Hotels is bringing its blend of cool to the streets of East London in September. The details are thin at the moment, but we should expect the hotel to fit in with Shoreditch’s cool restaurants, bars and boutiques. The restaurant will very much fit in along those lines with an offering from the team behind Bistrotheque and Shrimpy’s (a restaurant in a former King’s Cross filling station).

London’s Holborn area continues its redevelopment with the launch of the Rosewood London. The hotels takes the place of the Chancery Court Hotel on High Holborn with a re-branding and renovation by Rosewood Hotels & Resorts.

Due to open in October, the restaurant will be under the direction of chef Bjorn van der Horst, a much respected chef with great history in London. Also adding its weight to the area will be The Hoxton Holborn, a new venture from The Hoxton Hotel in Shoreditch – watch this space for further details in due course.
