Beach holidays are great, but towards the end of the holiday they can start to lack excitement. City breaks are therefore a perfect alternative – and often you can get your beach time too. A city break means you can have it all! Ideal for those that need entertainment and want a trip that includes a bit of everything. Here are our top 5 city break destinations, in no particular order:
Shanghai
Discover the four ancient towns in Shangai; from the beautiful Yuyuan Gardens to Zhujiajiao; Shanghais very own Venice. Absorb yourself in fascinating culture, stunning temples and be thoroughly entertained at Circus World.
Perth
Although small Perth gives you access to an abundance of fascinating day trips to see spectacular rock formations like the Pinnacles and Wave Rock. Its also well worth a visit to Margaret River well known for its wine production. For nature lovers there is plenty of wildlife including seals, penguins, dolphins, kangaroos and skinks (short snakes with legs). Perths stunning beaches, great surf and vibrant nightlife will certainly keep you entertained.
Bangkok
Relax with a Thai massage and savour delicious Thai cuisine. By day check out the floating markets or the ancient city of Ayutthaya. After dark head to Lupini park for a browse around the impressive night market then enjoy drinks or dinner while watching live music with dance routines on stage.
New York
Shop till you drop, check out Time Square and watch a Broadway show. Or if you prefer more relaxed day you could take a ferry trip and hit the beach. Go further afield to Mount Taurus for hiking and stunning views of the Hudson River.
Singapore
If you are heading to Singapore, try and do so during Chinese New Year as the whole city is lit up with sensational decorations. Take a cable car over to Sentosa Island and watch a 4D movie, relax on the beach or take in many of the sights the island has to offer. If you need more excitement you can take a night safari, Universal Studios, or go on a mangrove kayak adventure.
