Nepal is a diverse country where spectacular natural landscapes combine with a rich history and vibrant culture. The country is also revered as the birthplace of the Buddha and home to Mount Everest, the tallest mountain in the world. Interestingly, the locals also call Mount Everest “Sagarmatha” or the Goddess Mother of the World. Nepal has been one of the top tourist destinations for several years now. 1. You learn something new every day. I’ve never heard Mount Everest called Goddess Mother of the World before.

  2. Pokhara is by my favorite place on this list! I think it is probably the favorite of most of the people that travel to Nepal. Another thing I would add in Pokhara is the newly built Shiva Statue. It is about 300 meters above the Peace Pagoda and is a great hiking destination. Also don’t forget about the newly constructed Cable car in Pokhara either.

Also, of course in Kathmandu you get Bhaktapur, and Lalitpur as well. But you can add Panauti, which is a great little Newari city about a 30 minute drive away from Bhaktapur!
