The best Four Seasons properties on the US East Coast

“Luxury, by definition, means something that appears to be the best of whatever it represents. It’s a word that raises people’s expectations, whether talking about clothing…or locations for people to live. You pay for recognition, but probably the most important thing it represents is delivery on the promise of the brand’s name.” – Isadore Sharp, founder of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts

In 1961, visionary entrepreneur Isadore Sharp opened the first Four Seasons property in Toronto, Canada, with the goal in mind of molding a new kind of personalized brand of hospitality. The hotel’s success served as the foundation of the brand’s expansion, with each property thereafter maintaining the same level of commitment in quality, guest satisfaction, and overall experience. With now over 120 properties worldwide, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts is often regarded as the pinnacle of luxury travel. With its commitment to consistent excellence, travelers often pursue Four Seasons as their preferred brand in hospitality. Below are some of the most highly regarded properties on the east coast of the US:

Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown

Located in the heart of Lower Manhattan, Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown hails as one of the tallest skyscrapers on the block. This 82-story building, which opened in 2016, offers stylish and modern accommodations and amenities, while its central location attracts an array of clients.

Each standard room offers a spectacular city view, with its categories offering a choice of Brooklyn, Soho, Manhattan, and Hudson. The luxury suites range in size from 700 sq.ft to 2,400 sq.ft. With one property in the city of Miami, Four Seasons offers a second property, located in a more quiet side of town. The surf side property, nestled down Collins Ave, serves as a staple for a luxury beach getaway. When guests step inside the property, they’re instantly met with a sense that the building itself is home to a decadent past, and they’d be correct – as The Surf Club was once home to an all-inclusive social club in the 1930s. As guests make their way down the hallway of palm trees and towering archways, they may catch a glimpse of old-Hollywood nostalgia, as names such as Frank Sinatra and Elizabeth Taylor once walked the same halls.

“The thought process behind The Surf Club’s creative vision has always been to preserve its spirit and respect its iconic story,” Gabriela Navarro, head of creative at Fort Partners, shared with Travel + Leisure. Guests can see the preservation of its history in all corners of the hotel, with its signature Champagne Bar being a focal point where modern memories are welcome to mingle with the old memories over prohibition-era cocktails.

  1. As somebody who learnt to swim in municipal swimming baths that were probably built in the 1930s and where the water was perishing I really appreciate the luxury of where I swim nowadays and nothing beats the indulgence of an infinity pool. Philadelphia is calling to me.

  2. Does Four Seasons have a property around the Boston area? If they do, didn’t it make it into the “best” category?

    1. There are two properties in Boston. The older property is located on Bolyston Street, steps away from the iconic Boston Marathon finish line. The newer property is down One Dalton, a beautiful addition to the Black Bay neighborhood. Perhaps this article calls for a part-two…!

  3. Central Miami has a real buzz but after a couple of days it can be too much in your face and it’s expensive too. Is the answer a two centre trip with some time out of town as well?
