That’s an incredible image of Whare Kea Lodge, so beautiful, so tempting.
Stunning views and location all year round, for sure!
One of my friends who has worked in New Zealand for over 35 years is hoping to retire at the end of 2025 and wants to move back to Europe.
I’m already retired and I get the feeling that I’m approaching my last chance to visit him and to see some of this Winter Luxury whilst I’m there.
Never let a travel chance go by; they always give us unforgettable memories.
No doubting the luxury. It all looks so fabulous and tempting.
Are you tempted enough to come over?
When God handed out natural beauty he sure gave New Zealand more than its fair share!
Sure did, the Indian Travelers call us “Gods Country”.
Having endured another cold and damp and dark and thoroughly miserable British winter it would take something very, very special to lure me away from the warmth of summer. Some of these fantastic Kiwi properties might just do that.
As someone who has lived in London, I understand your thoughts very well.
Last time I visited New Zealand, Queenstown was the standout highlight. When I go back again I’ll be signing up for the snowmobile adventure.
Queenstown is magical, but don’t miss out on Wanaka or the Mt Cook region. There are so many stunning locations that I can never decide which one I like most.
It must be hard to beat those three properties when it comes to stunning locations, fantastic architecture and sheer luxury?
New Zealand has and is still leading the way when it comes to beautiful properties in stunning locations and sheer luxury throughout the North and South Islands.
As I get older I’m beginning to appreciate that I get more pleasure from skiing than any of my other hobbies. Up here in the Northern Hemisphere there’s a fairly limited ski season. Now that we’re empty nesters I can see how we could do a trip to New Zealand with some “summer” skiing slotted in.
Come over :-)
I’m fair-skinned and struggle in the summer, growing up I was the only one of the family who struggled with beach holidays.
These winter landscapes are my idea of the perfect holiday. I’m much happier when the mercury’s dropping rather than rising.
Yes, you would want to travel then in our winter, as we have long sunny days in the summer. With more than 2300 hours of sunshine per year, depending on the region, New Zealand is extremely sunny. New Zealand is sunnier than North-Western Europe but is less sunny than the Mediterranean. But in high summer, the sunshine in New Zealand is powerful. You’ll burn more easily here in New Zealand than anywhere in the Mediterranean.
After a promising start of the sunniest UK May on record, summer has stalled on its journey. People always say what’s the point of going away when the weather’s good? As we’re now getting below average temperatures and frequent showers I’d much rather have the drama of a New Zealand winter than a soggy UK summer.
I get it. If you want to add a nice summer vacation to New Zealand, just jump on a plane to the Cook Islands or other Pacific islands. Winter in the Pacific is the best time anyway.
