A wave of Mozart’s music will ripple across to mark the 250th birthday of the composer Mozart. In particular, all eyes will be his hometown of Salzburg in Austria. A day of music will start on the streets in the morning at 10.00 GMT with a concert at the Mozarteum after a speech by its head Nikolaus Harnoncourt. A special exhibition “Viva Mozart” is also to be inaugurated. In the evening Ricardo Muti will conduct a special Mozart concert given by the Wiener Philharmoniker.
