World Cup 2006 - Group G: Switzerland team hotel

KurhotelIf there’s one team that must be really looking forward to the World Cup, it’s Switzerland.   It’s been 12 years since they last competed in the final stages, having missed ou ton the World Cup finals of 1998 and 2002. They’ve chosen to stay at Kurhotel Fürstenhof  in Bad Bertrich, Rhineland-Palatinate – just 30 kilometres from Hahn Airport. Interestingly, the mayor of Bad Bertrich, Günter Eichberg, was a former president of Schalke 04 and personally knew the Swiss trainer, Köbi Kuhn, and it’s thought this could have been a deciding factor in the choice of the Swiss. The 5-star hotel has a  Glauber’s salt thermal  indoor swimming pool, the only hotel in Germany to have one.

The above is one of a series of blog entries highlighting the luxury hotels that will be home to the national teams participating in the 2006 Fifa World Cup.
