The Guggenheim has this weekend announced plans for a huge Frank Gehry-designed art museum to be located on a manmade spit on the currently unihabited Saadiyat Island next to Abu Dhabi, UAE. With branches in Las Vegas, Berlin, Venice, Italy and Bilbao, and of course its flagship museum in New York, this will be the first venture for the Guggenheim in the Middle East and one of its biggest ever. The design is expected to be unveiled in November 2006.
