Gun scare at Portmarnock Hotel in Dublin, Ireland


Portmarnock HotelThe manager of the Republic of Ireland soccer team, Steve Staunton,  was confronted by a man at gunpoint outside the luxuruious 84-room  Portmarnock Hotel this evening, prior to the team’s friendly match against Holland on Wednesday. A man was later arrested on a nearby beach.    The incident comes nearly three years after  two armed men entered the hotel’s lobby, fired a shotgun into the ceiling and fled with £690, as the players enjoyed an evening meal.
