6 luxury UK hotels that welcome you, your children and your family dog

Fed up of waving goodbye to indulgent holidays as your family expands? Here are six luxury hotels that will welcome you, your children and even your family pets too. These former castles and manor houses with their mature grounds and resident chefs are perfect to pamper you and all your family… The Milestone Hotel, Kensington, London The Milestone at Kensington Court gives you both the address and serious pampering.  Younger guests will adore the mini-bathrobes and special slippers. Children’s turndown service includes a teddy to snuggle up with and a rather indulgent chocolate mousse. Parents get to enjoy a carefree evening meal by arranging for a Nanny in advance, or by using the Hotel’s baby-monitoring system. Mention if you will be bringing your pet with you, when you book, to ensure that everything is ready for their pampered stay. They will get their very own pet hamper, which includes Milestone bedding. Dog and cat sitters and groomers can also be provided. Armathwaite Hall, Cumbria This country house hotel is most definitely a luxury family retreat.  The idyllic English Lake District is perfect for children and dogs to explore and have fun. Add to that a touch of luxury and you have the recipe for a fabulously relaxing break. Children can ‘Go Wild’ try yoga, ghyll scrambling or abseiling and there is even a teen spa. Dogs will be delighted to take their owners exploring all the walking opportunities and are welcomed to Armathwaite with a dog cushion and blanket in addition to some doggy treats. Tylney Hall Hotel, Hampshire Tylney Hall knows how to looks after its younger guests with specially designed organic children’s menu and range of complimentary activities. A treasure hunt is set up in the grounds, and you can also try your hand at croquet.   Family board games require an indulgence of time and are available for loan. Whatever the weather take along your bathers as Tylney Hall has both an indoor and outdoor pool. Babysitters can be booked in advance to ensure that when the children have eaten the adults can relax for dinner in the Oak Room restaurant.  Ground floor rooms are very dog friendly and your pet will find a basket, blanket and chewy toy just for them. Thornbury Castle, Gloucestershire Thornbury Castle in southern Gloucestershire is steeped in Tudor history. Children from around 8 years are welcome to come and walk in the footsteps King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. To be enchanted by this castle, with its suits of armour and tales of princes and princesses. With 14 acres of beautiful mature grounds dogs, children and adults will have plenty of opportunity to explore. Dogs are welcome in the bedchambers and public lounges.  Early teas and babysitters allow for happy children and romantic dinners for the adults. Strattons Hotel & Restaurant, Norfolk All food is cooked to order at Strattons, and you are invited to call ahead and let the chef know if you wish to book a child’s tea, or if you have a special diet or, perhaps a choosey eater? This caring attitude is echoed throughout this lovely luxury hotel where they really want every aspect of your stay to be perfect. Dogs just need to know that there are cats and chickens about, so they will need to be tolerant with them to be welcomed! I’ve yet to meet a child who doesn’t love feeding animals and here yours can get really involved by helping to feed the chickens and collecting their breakfast eggs straight from the hen coop too, if they fancy. The hotel prides itself on being Green, so they don’t provide slippers and bathrobes, however they will be recycling those grains that were used to make your excellent cup of coffee. Overwater Hall, Cumbria Overwater Hall is set in 18 acres of formal gardens and woodlands against the backdrop of the majestic Lake District fells. Children are welcome here and early teas can be provided for them along with a baby listening service for parents who want to enjoy a romantic evening meal. WiFi is freely available and iPod docks and large screen TVs all come as standard, along with the fluffy bathrobes and designer toiletries. Overwater is just a short drive from Whinlatter Forest with its famous Go-Ape and bicycle hire and meandering woodland walks. The Lake District is a dog’s haven and pets are made especially welcome at Overwater. They can also provide dog-sitters for you, on the occasions that your outing may not be dog friendly.
