The top 3 Philippe Starck interiors not to miss in Paris

Philippe Starck, the famous French designer and architect captured our hearts with his designs long ago. As someone who designs things from something as small as a shoe to some of the hottest hotels and office buildings in the world it seems there is nothing that Starck canÂ’t put his stamp on. His heart and his work will always stand out in Paris. Below you will find 3 of our must-visit Starck sites in the City of Light. You wonÂ’t be disappointed! Hotel Royal Monceau A few years ago a friend of mine was visiting Paris and staying at the Royal Monceau (tough life!). I had never been so figured I’d meet her there before she had to run to her appointment that evening. I knew the Monceau was a luxury hotel, so didn’t expect anything out of the ordinary as far as luxury hotels go, I was wrong. I walked in and was wowed by its beauty. The chandelier-laden staircase and the art work alone are sights not to be missed. I felt as if I was transported back to 1920s Paris… think Hemmingway. The bar area happened to be my favorite (and no, not for obvious reasons), though mostly due to the insanely delicious macarons I was given while waiting for my meeting (this was my second visit of course). During the warmer months, La Terrase makes you feel as if you are on the beaches of Nice on a wonderfully sunny Summer day, enjoying an aperitif and watching the children run along the beach. And the Le Royal Eclaireur… well that’s a story for a different day. Royal Monceau bar Originally opened in 1928, the Hotel Royal Monceau is the epitome of luxury in Paris. The epitome of modern luxury in Paris, refurbished by Starck in 2010 the hotel now offers the perfect marriage or art, architecture, modern design and luxury. With plush carpets, stunning architecture, featured artwork and even an art concierge your senses will be stimulated from check-in to check-out, from you first macaron to your last purchase at their on-site concept store. For more Philippe Starck finds check out: Miss Ko Only a year old, the Asian fusion restaurant, Miss Ko is an adventure for the senses. Mere steps from the Champs-Elyees, not only is it gastronomically exciting, but Starck has created something out of the ordinary and extremely unique. From a floating teapot to video projections of dancing grains of rice, you will not run out of things to talk about Cristal Room Redesigned in 2003 by Starck, the former private hotel is now the stunning Maison Baccarat, which houses the crystal companyÂ’s headquarters and museum. Located on the first floor of the building the Cristal Room exudes elegance, and other worldly charm with a dash of modernism.   The Baccarat crystal so elegantly displayed throughout the restaurant gives a touch of elegance to the exposed brick that is featured there. Although rather expensive, the food is absolutely heavenly and a visit to the Cristal Room is a must-do at least once! Chloe Johnston is the CEO at CJ Shopping Tours.

  1. True Philippe Starck’s work is incredible and may I also mention the work done by his own daughter at Le Meurice (Restaurant Dali) ? Just have a look at the magnificent canvas painted by Ara Starck.
