Many of us want to give up the rat-race and live a better life, but not many of us do. It is a dream most of us have, but unfortunately, can’t put into practice. The nearest thing to it that most of us can manage is a good holiday. Of course, that depends on your definition of a good vacation. Some like the perpetual party type holiday, involving discos, bars and dancing to the early hours of the morning. Others prefer the adventure kind, which centers on extreme sports, all the things you have no time to do or are too scared to do at home. Something that will take you out of your own environment? Someplace exotic, but which isn’t an exquisite beach lined with tourist hotels? You may find the answer in the Ecuadorian Amazon jungle. amazon-adventure-tours As many of us live and work in the cities, we forget the benefits of nature. The kids, if they’re lucky, may get a school trip to the zoo, but that’s probably the nearest they are going to get to any wildlife. 1. That first photo, the one with the sun setting beyond, the calm, still Amazon, in my book, really is the definition of tranquillity. It’s so far away from everywhere and everything that I could definitely destress there. I’d hope that it is way behind mobile reception. From reading all these tempting posts on Ecuador on A Luxury Travel Blog it’s fast moving up my list of places that I want to visit. Maybe it’s time for a Gap Year in Central and South America.

  2. I still remember my first visit to the Ecuadorian amazon vividly. It was in 1995, a time where eco tourism was still very much unknown to most. We stayed at the Sacha lodge which was then still very small and less luxurious as it is today, but the experience and the memories will always be unbeaten!

  3. This is a tempting taster of what’s available in Ecuador. What I would like to see sometime is 10 Birds to spot in Ecuador, 10 Ecuadorian Reptiles etc or even 10 surprising creatures you would find in Ecuador.

  4. This really is one of those idealistic vacations in my mind. I love the idea of heading to the Ecuadorian Jungle to get a totally unique change of scenery, peace and quiet and surrounded by nature, exotic and interesting but not crammed with tourists. I’m not one for lots of activities when going away and I don’t have the energy for all that much anyway, so relaxation with the option for lots of interesting but not too demanding activities sounds spot on. What a fascinating, eye-opening adventure going here would be!
