Your first adventure will be your honeymoon, an anticipated moment that you both will remember for the rest of your life; you want it to be unique, unforgettable and full of new experiences that you will share.
Well, the Galapagos Islands can offer all of that!
Besides its pristine beaches, one-of-a-kind wildlife, and beautiful landscapes, the Galapagos offers a unique combination of adventure and relaxation for newly married couples that are looking forward to experiencing something new during their honeymoon.
Below you will find a list of the Top 5 things to do during your Galapagos Honeymoon:
Enjoy a new culinary experience together
Due to its privileged location, the Galapagos Islands are the perfect place to enjoy delicious cuisine that includes ingredients from coastal South America and a wide variety of international dishes whether it is aboard your cruise or in one of the restaurants located along the beachfront.
Restaurants like the Angermeyer Waterfront Inn and Bahia Mar offer delicious food and incredible oceanfront views.
Explore the incredible underwater world together
Activities like snorkeling and diving are preferred by travelers in the Galapagos Islands thanks to the vast abundance of marine life. Nearly 20% of marine life in the Galapagos is endemic, which means that it can’t be found anywhere else on Earth. This conglomeration is something special in marine species as they tend to migrate and mix in a much larger territory than land wildlife.
This fascinating underwater world can be easily observed thanks to the abundance of marine life and the crystal-clear waters, allowing you and your partner to experience a whole new world together.
During a cruise, you will be able to enjoy water activities like snorkeling, kayaking, swimming and go for a panga ride.
Admire breathtaking natural landscapes together
Imagine waking up during your honeymoon to an incredible view of the turquoise waters, the morning sun, and the morning breeze on your face. Then picture heading to your excursion to these beautiful volcanic landscapes and exploring the archipelago, looking for the next adventure.
Another fantastic activity to do during your honeymoon onboard a Galapagos cruise is to stargaze during the night on the upper deck; you can even arrange a private dinner for you and your partner and enjoy this romantic getaway, just the two of you in the middle of the ocean.
Experience close encounters with wildlife
In addition to romantic activities, you will also enjoy thrilling moments during your honeymoon: you will encounter with sea lions wandering and resting around town or getting on board the pangas of the yacht, curious finches trying to get a sip of your water, colorful boobies walking along the trails with you, giant tortoises slowly moving around their natural habitat or marine iguanas resting on the rocks.
You and your new spouse will not only get a close look at these fascinating creatures for the first time together, and you will create memories for a lifetime.
Enjoy the Galapagos’ beautiful and secluded beaches
Enough of adventure and wildlife! We know you are on your honeymoon and you will need some romance during this getaway, and although all we mentioned before sounds great, it is understandable to look for some privacy. Don’t worry; we got you!
This paradise on earth is not only famous for its wildlife, marine life, and volcanic landscapes; it also has beautiful beaches on its 800 miles of coastline. During your trip, you will find not only your usual white-sanded beaches you will also find a red beach in Rabida Island, a black beach in Floreana Island and Santiago Island and beautiful crystal-clear beaches in Santa Cruz, Isabela, San Cristobal, and other islands.
Thanks to the fact that only 3% of the archipelago is populated by humans, the beaches are not overcrowded, which allows for an excellent opportunity to enjoy a romantic day on the beach.

I’m at that stage of life where almost all of my friends in their mid to late twenties are getting married. This summer it’s been a wedding virtually every other weekend. So, I’m becoming quite an expert on honeymoons. I’ve noticed that there is a growing fashion for them to go off on active honeymoons. These suggestions for activities are bang on trend.
Dear Freya,
Thanks for your comment! -It is true that couples now tend to pick a honeymoon with more activities or something a bit different than the usual destinations but at the end I believe it depends on the couple’s favorite things to do. Overall Galapagos can offer a relaxing honeymoon or an active one.
So far I haven’t found my Mr Right but when Info I hope that he’s up for a honeymoon like this and also earning enough to pay for it!
There are different categories of cruises and hotels in Galapagos It is more affordable than what you may think!
I’m not really one for manicured beaches and those honeymoon resorts where they sprinkle rose petals round your sun-lounger would not go down well with my girlfriend. I’d rather go for a beach like the one in the photo.
Well you know the Galapagos is waiting for you and your girlfriend to come and enjoy some snorkeling, kayaking and hiking!
If only we’d gone to the Galapagos for our honeymoon. I suppose I shouldn’t complain as my husband is willing to go into the kitchen and cook. The problem is that he has a very limited repertoire of dishes. Maybe if we’d gone to the Galapagos he might have been inspired to try a few more adventurous dishes.
Dear Lorraine,
Well it is never too late for a second or third honeymoon…
May be you can tell your husband to try a new dish called ceviche (this is typical of the coastal region of Ecuador and Galapagos as it is made of seafood and/or fish). It is really easy and delicious, or you could try and surprise him with the dish.
What an interesting idea, to do an underwater exploration for your honeymoon! I love the sound of that, it’s definitely novel and it’ll certainly be memorable. Interesting that 20% of the marine life is specific to the Galapagos so you’ll see things that you can’t see anywhere else, making it one of those once in a lifetime kind of experiences. I really do find the idea of going somewhere surrounded by nature really appealing, because it helps you focus on what’s really important. You can just unplug and spend quality time with your partner.
Dear Lucy,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. -Imagine diving with your partner and going to a different Island everyday… It is definitely romantic and exciting, the perfect plan for a honeymoon.
And literally you will unplug from your regular life as most of the cruises don’t have wifi on board :)
I definitely think there’s a strong case here for a second honeymoon, Lorraine!
It sounds like you figured it out!
Galapagos is a very nice place to visit for your honeymoon because it has all the ingredients of a good and relaxing getaway.
