  1. Although I’m a big fan of India having visited this fascinating country several times the north east is a region that I really aren’t familiar with. Some inspirational ideas here which will probably end up with me expanding my wardrobe of Indian clothes and beautiful Indian jewellery too.

  2. Travelling off the beaten track often has its frustrations and is usually far slower but it does have big compensations. When you get away from the tourist trails I believe that you get a much more realistic picture of what a place is like. I would imagine that touring round the north east would be a great way to see the real India.

  3. Far more chance of feeding yourself here on a $2 a day budget. Wonder how many backpackers have been savvy enough to head for the north-east!

  4. Love to go to Tawang Monastery. It’s always been an ambition of mine to experience the serenity and spirituality of a Buddhist monastery. This one sounds really special.

  5. Wherever I go, no holiday is complete for me without a trip on the water. Taking the ferry to Majuli is my idea of holiday heaven as it’s such a beautiful journey.

  6. I went to Majuli back in 2015. I stayed in one of the Vaishnavite Monastery to experience the daily life of the Bhakats (monks). The island is fascinating considering its location and cultural diversity. Nagaland is one of my favourites too. You must visit the Hornbill festival once in your lifetime. I will be heading to the festival this week.
