  1. The huge advantage of the Intercontinental Hotel is that it is within walking distance of the Opera House. Perfect for a tour in the day and then a performance in the evening.

    1. Yes, that’s the theory. If the temperature is still over 35 centigrade when it’s time to walk to the Opera House for an evening performance I would get a taxi! We arrived dripping sweat even though it’s less than a 10 minute walk from the IC hotel.

The tour of the opera house really is worth doing. The former Sultsn had an organ designed that even has two unique notes that no other organ in the world has. If I remember rightly one of them is a Tublar Bells note. Can’t remember what the other one is.

  2. Several years ago whilst on holiday in Dubai we decided to give Oman a try for a weekend and fly to Muscat. Since then we’ve always holidayed in Oman, such a beautiful country.

  3. Aren’t these all along the coast near Muscat? Are there any top hotels elsewhere for exploring the country?

  4. Six Senses at Zighy Bay looks amazing it must be quite a drive through the mountains to get there.

  5. I would have thought that the Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort ought to get a shout out. I haven’t stayed there but I have been past on a tour and it is in a great location.

It’s quite close to Oman’s very own version of the Grand Canyon. When I watched the Amazing Hotels of the World programmes it got it’s very own episode with Giles and Monica really singing it’s praises.
