New travel resolutions for a new year

Happy New Year, luxury travellers! As we say goodbye to the old and welcome in the new, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the past year and set some travel plans for the year ahead. New Year’s resolutions can be a great way to focus on self-improvement and make positive changes in our lives. If you’re in need of some inspiration for your own resolutions, here are a few ideas. And if you have your own ideas or plans already, please share them in the comments!

Expand your horizons

Make a resolution to visit a new destination or try a new type of vacation. Perhaps you’ve always wanted to go on a safari or visit a remote island. This is the year to make it happen!

Get off the beaten path

While luxury resorts and five-star hotels can be amazing experiences, they can also be quite predictable. Make a resolution to seek out more unique and authentic travel experiences this year. Consider staying in a vacation rental, such as a villa or apartment, or booking a private tour with a local guide.

Be more sustainable

Luxury travel doesn’t have to be at odds with environmental responsibility. Make a resolution to be more conscious of your impact on the places you visit. Look for hotels and resorts that are committed to sustainability, choose eco-friendly transportation options, and consider offsetting your carbon emissions.

Learn a new skill

Travel is an excellent opportunity to learn and try new things. Make a resolution to take a cooking class in Italy, learn to surf in Hawaii, or take a painting workshop in France.

Disconnect to reconnect

We live in a world that is constantly connected, and it can be overwhelming at times. Make a resolution to disconnect from technology and reconnect with the people and places around you. Consider taking a digital detox vacation or setting aside specific times during your travels to unplug.

Give back

Travel is an amazing opportunity to experience different cultures and ways of life. Make a resolution to give back to the communities you visit, whether through volunteering, supporting local businesses, or making a donation.

Plan ahead

Spontaneous travel can be exciting, but it can also be stressful. Make a resolution to plan your trips more in advance, so you can take advantage of early bird rates and have more time to research and prepare.

No matter what your resolutions are, we hope that your travels in the new year are filled with adventure, relaxation, and unforgettable experiences. Happy travels!

Although I agree with the idea of getting off the beaten track there are times when we need our luxury resorts. Travel can be tiring. Recharging the batteries with a luxurious room, great food and some relaxing spa treatments gets you ready for the next leg of our adventures.

There do seem to be more holidays around where you can give back as part of the experience.

Our New Year’s resolution has to be to travel. We haven’t flown since before COVID.

A very interesting post. If you think back 20 years or so, how many of these resolutions would we have made at the start of a new millennium? We’ve changed and travel’s changed.
