The Maldives‘ most well-kept surprise opening, Ifuru Island Maldives, celebrated its official opening last month with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by the owners, the resort’s All-Star team and the very excited first official guests.

As a sun worshipper I’ve spent many hours on the world’s great beaches, but these beaches look to be in another class.

6 restaurants is great, it’s brilliant to have that much choice. Sometimes where to eat can be the hardest decision of the day at a resort like this.
I like the 24 hour dining options. International travel spooks my body clock and I can feel hungry at some odd times of the day.
If you were to design the ultimate Maldives resort it would come very close to this. I can’t think of anything else that I would want to include.

I’ve got to admit to it being a surprise opening is very unusual. Most companies usually get their PR companies to sail into action with a whole armada of Press Releases and pre-opening announcements.
Or maybe they are going for the strategy of one big surprise? Whatever the tactics it certainly looks to be a very impressive resort.
Yes, I found that very surprising too. I work in travel PR and if I had a marketing opportunity like that I would have been on to it months in advance.
The only explanation that I can think of is that maybe there were problems with the logistics of getting everything delivered to complete the resort and that they didn’t want to complete to an opening that might have had to be delayed.
