Why Cam Ranh should be on your luxury travel radar

Cam Ranh in Vietnam is an upscale alternative to nearby Nha Trang that offers peace, tranquility and the perfect escape. Since Cam Ranh international airport opened in 2009 the area has seen rapid tourism based development with multiple hotels and resorts opening along the peninsular facing the South China Sea. The proximity to the international airport makes hotel transfers a breeze, allowing you to be checked in to your chosen resort within minutes of collecting your baggage, enjoying a welcome drink whilst soaking up the ocean vistas. Everyone has heard of Nha Trang which has welcomed guests for decades,  but for us it’s all about Cam Ranh where these three unique luxury resorts are setting standards for luxury travel in the region and putting Can Ranh firmly on the map.

Alma Resort Cam Ranh

Alma Resort Cam Ranh is an independently owned and operated luxury resort located just 15 minutes from Cam Ranh international airport. Check in here for a multi layered vacation full of action packed activities, feel-good options and extensive culinary choices. Boasting 14 food and beverage venues, 12 swimming pools, cinema, science museum, spa and mini golf course, there truly is something for everyone. With sweeping ocean views from each and every corner of this bold and spacious resort, it is the perfect destination for relaxation and rejuvenation.

Choose from a selection of modern and stylish suites and pavilions that all boast stunning ocean views from either your balcony or terrace. With one, two and three bedrooms to select from, they are able to perfectly cater for both couples and families or larger groups at Alma Resort Cam Ranh. Our Ocean Front Pavilion was contemporary, crisp and light filled which we loved. The interior came complete with kitchenette, dining table and huge sofa, whilst the exterior featured a private pool set within the expansive decking area; this was our favourite spot to welcome the sun, rising majestically from the ocean each and every day during our stay.

It was good to see that all bathroom amenities at Alma Resort Cam Ranh are in refillable containers, and the removal of plastic water bottles from the pavilions is currently being implemented. The roofs of the same pavilions are currently having solar systems installed, and throughout the resort you will find garden furniture that has been crafted from recycled plastic. The resort is also firmly behind the End Plastic Soup initiative which along with beach cleanups is working with the local hospitality community to improve the ocean environment. We also loved the on site organic herb and vegetable garden, another sign that the team Alma Resort Cam Ranh are making moves in the correct direction when it comes to sustainability and reducing their impact

The Anam Cam Ranh

Check in at The Anam Cam Ranh where the typical Indochine style will transport you back to a bygone era, and authenticity is at the heart of everything they do. A selection of tastefully appointed rooms and villas are set amongst beautifully landscaped gardens, ensuring the utmost in privacy and tranquility. The lawns are perfectly manicured, whilst the mature trees and shrubs provide that tropical feeling ensuring that you feel at one with nature during your stay at The Anam Cam Ranh. The pristine Long Beach and the South China Sea are never far away, yet another example of how this luxury resort is surrounded by natural beauty.

Our Sea View Villa looked over the seemingly never ending verdant lawns and was shaded by swaying palms. The terrace had views of the not too distant ocean which completed the picture postcard view. Once inside our tastefully appointed villa, the mosaic floors and the sustainable hardwood finishes combined to create a distinct style, whilst the bathtub was surrounded by yet more foliage creating a space that felt alive and full of positive energy. We felt very much at home during our stay at The Anam Cam Ranh, supremely comfortable in our Vietnamese villa garden oasis.

The adults only pool offered yet another peaceful haven, whilst The Anam Spa offered the epitome of tranquility and relaxation. The wonderfully executed treatments, followed by yet more ‘chill time’ in the relaxation area were both restorative and rejuvenating. Complimentary sunrise and sunset yoga classes on the beach added further to the wellness factor, quite simply it would be difficult to leave The Anam Cam Ranh feeling anything but relaxed, it was just what we needed.

Fusion Resort Cam Ranh

We arrived at Fusion Resort Cam Ranh already as fans of this luxury hospitality brand and their unique concepts. By allowing guests to enjoy ‘breakfast any time, anywhere’ in conjunction with their ‘all-spa inclusive’ policy they have created two concepts that are so simple, yet so luxurious in their generosity. After all, who doesn’t want to be able to enjoy breakfast next to their own private pool before embarking of a day packed with inclusive spa treatments and therapies? When we left Fusion Cam Ranh, our fan status had been elevated to the next level, this is one seriously cool resort and we enjoyed every moment of our stay.

The ‘Ocean View Private Pool Villa’ which we called home during our stay was nothing short of perfect. Yes, as you might have guessed from the name, we had an ocean view and our our own private pool, which we enjoyed very much. The contemporary design allowed for light to flood into our temporary home, and we were blessed with expansive day beds, an outside seating area, and one of the coolest floating hammocks you’re ever likely to see. Every time that we headed ‘home’ after exploring everything that the resort had to offer, we smiled as we stepped through the doors of our modern and stylish abode.

Making the most of the unique ‘all-spa inclusive’ concept at Fusion Resort Cam Ranh takes some planning as there are countless treatments to choose from. We tried our hardest to work our way through the menu, and can report back that this is one seriously good spa with an excellent manager and an accomplished team of therapists. Don’t miss out on the yoga, tai chi and meditation classes as you will be treating your mind and your body to some much deserved pampering. The thatched yoga pavilion with surrounding lotus ponds is a wonderful venue that enhances your yoga practice and encourages mindfulness; yet another treat for those of us who value exercising our minds and our bodies in tranquil surroundings.

This trio of luxury resorts in Cam Ranh provide a glimpse of what is on offer from this relatively new Vietnamese tourist destination. There are many other hotels and resorts available, with more to follow in the near future. So our advice, would be to head to Cam Ranh sooner rather than later to enjoy the quiet beach, endless ocean and first rate hospitality. Choose from one of the three ‘tried and tested’ resorts featured above, and be sure to enjoy your next Vietnam vacation in the style that you deserve.

  1. I’d never heard of Cam Ranh airport. Some good hotel recommendations here. Now time to start researching some flights!

  2. With the tai chi, yoga and meditation it all looks very relaxing. Exactly what I need after a busy start to the year.

  3. 14 beverage and restaurant options. We’re really being spoilt by Alma Resort Cam Ranh. Nowadays when I head off on holiday I almost always assume that I’ll be eating in a different restaurant every evening.

    1. you will certianly never be short of somewhere to eat when staying at Alma Cam Ranh, they even have plenty of vegan options (with more to come) which made us very happy indeed!

  4. As a resident of south east Asia, I am surprised I have heard so little about Cam-Ranh. It looks so tranquil and serene in the photos. Looking into a trip there soon!

  5. Having never been to Vietnam, I’m thinking 2 centre holiday. Crazy time in HCMC then relaxation on the beach.

  6. All three resorts look absolutely amazing. Having visited Nha Trang in the past, Cam Ranh is most definitely ‘an upscale’ alternative which is now firmly placed on my future travel agenda. I could very happily stay at any of the resorts you’ve reviewed. However, if I had to choose, I think The Anam ticks all the boxes for me. I can see myself on that beach enjoying the yoga classes. Bliss.

  7. There’s some serious and sophisticated interior design going on here. The exteriors aren’t too shabby either. I’d love to stay at any of these hotels.
