  1. Hapag-Lloyd definitely should have a new marketing campaign. I’ve cruised a lot and I know very little about them!!!

  2. I’m already impressed with Etihad as they are and if I’ve got a choice on a route I’d opt for them, unless Qatar are flying that route. They are my favourite. Interesting to try out Etihad’s new improved service.

  3. Nanuku has obviously done some deep dive thinking and research into what travellers want. Personally, barefoot luxury and Fijan soul sums up exactly what I’m looking for.

  4. MSC is right to focus on getting the terminal right. When I’ve had to queue at a terminal before boarding it doesn’t set the right tone and again when you disembark that’s your final memory of the cruise and it shouldn’t be a poor one. The cruise market is so ultra- competitive that every aspect has to be spot on to keep the customers happy.

  5. As I sent nearly 4 decades working in the luxury travel industry before I retired I very much enjoy reading these monthly roundup-ups. The industry’s changing and developing faster than ever.

  6. Thanks but no thanks.

The only place that I do ice is in my cocktails.

However, educational and spectacular it may be, the ice-breaking PONANT cruise really isn’t for me.

  7. Korea’s on my list of places to visit. If Korea Air is going to make getting there a little more luxurious then it’ll certainly boost my thinking on a visit. It’s a long to Korea from Wales and if the journey is more comfortable there’s more chance of me travelling.

  8. I’m surprised that France still has supremacy when it comes to Michelin stars. How is that calculated? Is that purely based on the raw scores? What would it be if you did it on population per star?

I had the impression, often from reviews on ALTB, that there are many other countries that are culinary hotspots and following fast on France’s heels.

  9. I don’t know much about out cruise ship ratings and don’t really understand what a ship had to do to get a 5 star rating with Insight Guides.

I’m thinking of doing my first cruise soon. Could we have posts helping us to understand cruising please? There’s so much going on that I’m overwhelmed by all the options.
