Spring Spa Trail Escape returns to Gilpin Lake House, Lake District

This Spring, Gilpin Hotel & Lake House – soon to be reviewed on A Luxury Travel Blog – has announced the return of its much-loved Spring Spa Trail Escape, reintroduced with a special introductory price for April 2026, from £673 per room, saving £100.

Designed as a deeply restorative countryside retreat, the experience invites guests to embrace the renewal of spring in the Lake District with an indulgent overnight stay and an immersive wellness journey at the secluded Gilpin Lake House, a five-minute drive from Windermere.

As the Lake District awakens from winter, the landscape transforms into a scene of effortless beauty; bright green hillsides, wildflower-dotted trails and lakes shimmering under longer daylight hours. It is the perfect moment for a restorative escape, combining fresh air, gentle walks and luxurious spa indulgence.

At Gilpin Lake House, spring is welcomed with sunlit spaces and doors open to the fresh countryside air. Mornings begin with leisurely breakfasts overlooking the grounds, while afternoons invite exploration of blossom-lined paths or quiet moments spent admiring the views from the comfort of the lounge.

The Spring Spa Trail Escape at Gilpin Lake House is perfect for couples, friends or family seeking a rejuvenating getaway and moves guests through a sequence of spa experiences designed to relax the body and awaken the senses. Guests can enjoy private access to the indoor pool, salt sauna and salt scrub shower, as well as refuel with spring refreshments, all set against the tranquil backdrop of Gilpin Lake House’s private lake. The experience continues with a couple’s spa treatment, then a traditional afternoon tea or Charcuterie board. The afternoon is rounded-off with Champagne in the cedarwood hot tub overlooking the serene Knipe Tarn.

According to Gilpin’s spa team, hydrotherapy rituals are particularly beneficial during the transition into spring.

“Spring is a wonderful time for hydrotherapy because the body is naturally shifting from winter’s slower rhythm into a more active season,” says Corina Gallacher, Spa Manager at Gilpin Hotel & Lake House. “Moving between water, heat and relaxation helps stimulate circulation, ease muscular tension and gently re-energise the body”.

Corina adds: “Spa trails allow guests to experience these benefits in a more mindful, unhurried way. The changing temperatures, paired with fresh countryside air, create a deeply calming reset – something many people are looking for as they move into brighter, longer days”.

The Spring Spa Trail Escape includes:

  • One-night stay at Gilpin Lake House
  • Full breakfast the following morning
  • Guided Spring Spa Trail experience, including private access to the indoor pool, salt sauna, salt scrub shower and outdoor hot tub
  • Couple’s massage
  • Half bottle of Champagne
  • Spring fruit frappé
  • Traditional afternoon tea or Charcuterie board

Nestled within 100 acres of private grounds, Gilpin Lake House offers an intimate retreat where just six bedrooms share exclusive facilities including a heated indoor pool, sauna, outdoor hot tubs and woodland trails. Overlooking a small private lake, the property offers an even more private alternative to the main hotel a mile away.

  1. I always think that location is key to creating the mood for a spa. If you arrive somewhere peaceful and tranquil then you’re well on the way to a good spa day. Gilpin House and Spa holds all the cards when it comes to location.

    1. You’re quite right, Lucinda. Both locations – Gilpin Hotel and Lake House (which are about a mile or so apart) – are easily reached from Kendal, Bowness and Windermere, but sufficiently tucked away as to be a haven of peace and tranquillity.

  2. 6 bedrooms – it sounds very small and intimate. Sometimes I’ve struggled at the spas I’ve been to as they are virtually mass production – far too many people for my liking.

    1. Yes, Lake House is very intimate. And when you see my review due to be published soon, you will see that just calling them each “a bedroom” is doing something of a dis-service to what’s actually on offer!

  3. Spring Spa Trail Escape at Gilpin Lake House sounds like a wonderful way to slow down and enjoy the Lake District in a more mindful way. Combining scenic surroundings with spa experiences makes it feel like a true reset rather than just a short break. I especially like that it returns in spring, when the landscape is at its most refreshing. This kind of wellness getaway is perfect for anyone
