New luxury escape on Portugal’s Estoril coast

The Forte is a unique and entirely private escape found at The Oitavos, a modern five-star luxury hotel located just 20 minutes west of Lisbon with far reaching views over the West Atlantic coastline. Built in the heart of the secluded The Oitavos Dunes golf course in the Sintra Cascais National Park, The Forte is a 120 square metre suite complete with a king sized bedroom, living room, fully equipped kitchen, private outdoor sea water swimming pool, sun deck, and personal butler available on hand to answer any and every whim.

With its exclusive location, it is the perfect place to indulge in a secluded honeymoon or a romantic retreat, where guests can enjoy luxurious privacy, fine cuisine, spa and golf. Alternatively, its tranquil setting could make the ideal backdrop for a special dinner or private event. It even offers opportunities for companies looking for an original venue for a brand launch or product unveiling. Whatever the occasion, the private suite has been designed to blend with the stunning landscape of natural pines and sand dunes and provides views overlooking the timeless beauty of the Estoril Atlantic coast.

Rates start from €2500 in high season and during a stay at The Forte, guests will receive one round of golf per person, per day at The Oitavos Dunes, ranked 88th in the ‘Top 100 golf courses in the world’ by the US golf authority Golf Magazine. They will also receive one meal at one of the hotel’s restaurants (Ipsylon Lounge or Verbasco) with a credit of up to €70, complementary use of a private golf cart throughout the stay (for guests to explore the property and surrounding location), access to all The Oitavos facilities, including the spa, equestrian centre, health and racket club, complementary high speed Internet access and breakfast served daily at The Forte (or at the hotel should guests prefer).

With a private air strip nearby and Lisbon just twenty minutes away, The Forte is the ideal short haul destination from all European cities.

I was just in Lisbon recently. What a pity I didn’t know about this beautiful resort then. I’m sure it would appeal to fellow travellers from Australia looking for something special and unique.

What a nice post on the Forte at Oitavos. Some may recall before the course was constructed that a structure stood on that very high point and served as an sheltered observatory during the world wars. It was run down and ransacked when we found it, but Miguel had tremendous vision to convert it into something very special. It is surrounded by the golf course on all sides, and the views of the Atlantic, Cabo de Roca, etc. are absolutely world class. I recall spending a lot of time up there when we were designing and building the course – because it had a commanding view and was so tranquil. BTW, the course is now up to #68 in the world!! A fantastic place!
