Luxury hotels in Tokyo

Imperial Hotel, TokyoThe “Big Three” in Tokyo (the Imperial Hotel, Hotel New Otani and Hotel Okura) are facing increasing competition. Last summer, Hilton’s Conrad Hotel brand introduce Conrad Tokyo to the newly developed Shiodome business district in Minato Ward. This was followed by Mandarin Oriental’s Tokyo hotel in Nihonbashi (in Chuo Ward).   The spring and summer of 2007 will see them joined by Ritz Carlton and Shanghai Hotels Ltd.’s Peninsula Hotels. Will there be enough demand in the city  for the  additional 20,000 rooms that are predicted by 2008?
