Lindauer Queenstown Winter Festival begins today, running until 2nd July 2006. The annual event began in 1975 and has grown to become one of the special events on New Zealand’s calendar. Todays events will include the Lindauer Opening Party and international ice hockey, and there’s lots more scheduled over the next 10 days including live music, exhibitions and, of course, skiing.

Queenstown is a favourite place of mine – it is a great all year round resort deep in New Zealand’s south island. the scenary is spectacular and the town itself is the gateway to many trips and experiences. For the more adventurous it is self named the adventure capital of the world and is supposedly where bungee jumping started, but there are many challenging expreiences to be had. Its a very international town with fabulous skiing close by. Some great hotels including a sofitel and various boutique hotels. Well worth the trip!
