Interview with Bjoern Koch of The Tides Playa del Carmen

Bjoern KochBjoern Koch is an international specialist when it comes to real estate in Mexico.   He is currently Sales Manager for the Tides Playa del Carmen, who  I am  proud to have on board as an advertiser on A Luxury Travel Blog.

What is it that  you do exactly?

I am the Sales Manager for the Tides Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The Tides is a 209 Oceanfront Condo Hotel Project in Tides Playa Del Carmen.

What do you enjoy most about what you do?

I enjoy meeting new people to the area, sharing with customers the Mayan Riviera and all the fun things people can do; it is amazing once we have spent 3 days with people here in Playa del Carmen and I love making dreams come true with property ownership in this Mexican paradise.

What would you say are the 3 best places you’ve ever stayed?

In this region I love the setting of Ikal Del Mar, a very unique boutique hotel; this 30 room hotel offers incredible service and is a true romantic getaway. I enjoy the relaxing small boutique hotels in Tulum; Tulum itself is magical and the entire area offers dramatic Oceanfront accommodation for endless private walks on the beach; and I love the dramatic setting of the Fairmont Hotel at Mayakoba, with its channels of fresh water zenotes and the great Greg Norman golf course.

What’s been your most memorable dining experience to date?

In the Mayan Riviera there are a lot of great restaurants ranging from local seafood places to top end restaurnats; one of my best experiences was in Tulum at Ana y Jose. I had a great red snapper prepared which was so fresh and fantastic – just thinking about it makes me hungry again.

Have you rubbed shoulders with the rich and famous, either through your work or your travels?

Yes, I have. Since we are selling one of the higher end resorts here in Playa Del Carmen, I have toured and connected with several rich and a few famous people. In one week I  toured 3 billionaires and 2 celebrities. Picking the people up in their private plane and then just sharing some of the simple life of the Mayan culture has been amazing. I realized for some of these people, it is not all about the money. Some of the rich people just got lucky but still have a huge heart.

What currently ranks highest on your travel wishlist?

I personally enjoy private cruises or just a nice basic, island vacation with total disconnection from the day-to-day business world.

Thanks, Bjoern. And good luck with those sales… the properties and location of The Tides Playa del Carmen look fabulous!
