New Museum of Contemporary ArtNew York has a new museum called… wait for it… New Museum!   It was  re-opened last weekend and exhibits contemporary artwork over 7 storeys.   Located in downtown Manhattan, it has seen $50 million in investment and the new building is being inaugurated with an international exhibition called ‘Monumental’.   See their website for further details of this and a full calendar of other events. Note that  the New Museum of Contemporary Art (to give it its full title)  is  closed on Mondays and Tuesdays (except for pre-scheduled tour groups.

  1. This gallery hadn’t yet opened when I visited New York, I went to MoMA and the Guggenheim though both amazing galleries and worth a visit. There’s so much to do in New York you may not fit in every gallery! Personally I’d go for the Guggenheim for the architecture alone.
