This cruise sounds great! I admit I’ve not been to Vietnam for more than a decade, but my memories of the place are still vivid. It was before the time of digital cameras and PhotoShop, and I deliberately shot almost all of my photos in black and white. It was just that kind of place.
If you’re looking for luxury travel, don’t do the Reunification Express train trip from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh. I did this trip in stages over a few weeks. Even the ‘soft seat’ class made my bum numb after an hour or so. Goodness knows what the lower standard of ‘hard seat’ class must have been like.
The Vietnamese people are very resourceful and hospitable. They’re moving forward despite a turbulent history. Hmmm, this is making me want to go back again now.
Kay would you recommend the reunification express? vietnam is a trip i am desperate to do i’ve heard the park hyatt in saigon is fab and i would love to visit nha trang and the evason ana mandara. It looks a beautiful country. does anyone have any other recommendations for a vietnam trip?
So far only a cruise seems doable for Vietnam since I am scared by the lack of sidewalks in Vietnam.
Being born in Vietnam and grew up in United States, I know what you mean about not walking around in Vietnam.
Have you try joining a Vietnam’s tour group? My Vietnamese friend’s family joined a tour group and had a chance to see everything in short period.
