Unusual? Call me traditional but I love my colorado Luxury Vacation Rentals. I use Travelenvogue.com and Jerry’s list has seels by oweners too. Sometimes, I use VRBO which I believe is ran by Home AWay. But I like my TEV!
My vote is the windmill rental in Portugal. I am planning a trip to Europe in September and think it would be a unique experience. Not many people get to say they stayed in a windmill!
There is an interesting rental I know of in Jakarta where you can rent out a Boeing 707 (Not to fly on just to sleep in over night). It’s up there for a novelty.
I know of a similar hotel with a 727 plane fuselage that has been converted to a room. It’s in Costa Rica near Manuel Antonio State Park. The place is called Hotel Costa Verde. I didn’t get the opportunity to stay here on my last trip but did stop by for drinks and it’s a cool sight to say the least.

My vote is for 1926 C&O Caboose. The pics are amazing and I really want to visit this place. Windmill rental seems to be very natural and beautiful … I like it too.
