Whatever happened to discretion?!

If there’s one thing you don’t do in the luxury travel industry, it’s name-drop. So, it comes as something of a surprise to hear that Farhad Vladi, the owner of North Island in the Seychelles (which we suggested was a possible venue for the Royal honeymoon), has openly told the Hamburger Abendblatt that he has rented the island to the Royal family.  He has reportedly said, “Prince William and Kate are spending their honeymoon there. But you will understand that we are not saying anything further.”  But that’s the beans already spilt, surely!  Is this a complete lack of professionalism or a sly trick between the Royals and Vladi to help throw the media off the scent of their true destination, perhaps?

  1. A Luxury TravelBlog -on the money as always. we’ve retweeted this link because we think it is absolutely not what you do at the true luxury end of the business. North Island may be losing some of its celeb clients from now on..

  2. You’ll notice that the source is the owner, who is not from the Seychelles, the people in the Seychelles knew the Royals were there, but didnt choose to fly in the Paps and notify the world. Why, because famous people staying in their resorts come there for privacy, if they call the papers every time someone lands there a) it would be a huge phone bill b) the islands would lose the lustre very quickly
