New opening: Grand Hotel Mencey, Santa Cruz, Tenerife

Iberostar Hotels & Resorts’ historic Grand Hotel Mencey in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Canary Islands) opens its doors today after a €25,000,000 renovation that re-affirms the Spanish chain’s commitment to expanding its portfolio of all-inclusive beach resorts to include urban lodgings in select locations, most recently in Budapest, Hungary. Set in a romantic Spanish colonial-style complex, the Mencey is Santa Cruz’ sole five-star hotel. As such, it is widely expected to attract not just the business crowd that parked its laptops here before the refurbishment, but also tourists who seek a refined urban experience and will settle for nothing but the very best. Once a centre of the city’s social life, the hotel has been equipped with the latest modern conveniences to ensure that guests experience the comforts of the 21st Century hand in hand with the classic charm of yesteryear. “This renovation has been designed down to the last detail to achieve the perfect blend of innovation and tradition,” General Manager Daniel Cañibano said. “We want to conserve the historic essence and spirit of the Mencey, while offering the best possible product adapted to the times we live in and service of the highest quality, all of which we hope will position us in the forefront of the hotel industry in Spain.”
