Silversea confirms luxury cruise ship collision in Ha Long Bay, Vietnam

Just when you thought the cruise industry had already had its fair share of bad publicity this year, it’s been confirmed that Silversea‘s luxury cruise ship, the Silver Shadow, collided in foggy conditions with a local commercial vessel in Ha Long Bay, about 5 miles off the coast of Vietnam.  Accounts of the scale of the incident seem to vary, with Silversea saying it was a minor incident but other reports seeming to say the collision was substantial.  Damage to the Silver Shadow doesn’t appear to be too serious, though it sounds as though the other vessel came off significantly worse. Thankfully, all the passengers and crew seem to be safe and well, despite a number being knocked off their feet at the time of impact.
