4 of the world’s best dining tables with great views (and great food!)
Travel is a sensation for all of the senses and combines our greatest passions that leave us with memories to last a lifetime. We rarely remember the soggy sandwich we raced to eat before the 2pm meeting but the fresh taste of the reef fish we caught and barbecued on the beach is a flavour that’s forever etched in our memories. So we shouldn’t be surprised about the ever-growing list of destinations that are combining amazing views with amazing food. Here’s a few of the best dining experiences that meet those criteria.
As the name suggests, diners can expect panoramic views of the skyline as they dine on fine Turkish fare. Huge floor to ceiling glass windows guarantee great views whether you’re inside or out. Dine early for a quiet, relaxed affair or opt for a late table combined with cocktails to take advantage of the club that comes alive late into the night with DJs and live music.
Head to the 7th floor of the Hotel Splendide Royal to find The Mirabelle, a truly romantic setting for any special occasion. Great service, food and open terraces combine to deliver a dining experience to remember. Rome-born Executive chef, Stefano Marzetti, and his team work on delivering some of the most delicious dishes in Italy with everything from Beluga Caviar to pasta and meat dishes on the menu. Fine dining and sweeping views over Rome come with a high price tag at this restaurant but when in Rome…
Everyone is talking about it, almost all are on the waiting list and all are tempted by one of London’s newest dining spots – Oblix at The Shard. Thirty two floors above ground level at London’s newest landmark awaits “upscale, sophisticated, urban dining”. An inspired menu is delivered by renowned chef Rainer Becker but is a move away from his usual Japanese Cuisine. Those not wanting to wait for a table can settle for a cocktail as drinkers, brunchers, lunchers and diners are all catered for. Enjoy the views!
Heli-glacier picnic, Verbier
This restaurant may have no name and only cater for one table but satisfaction is guaranteed as you choose the menu. Kando Verbier can organise the perfect gourmet dining experience 3,400 metres up on a glacier. Whether it’s lobster, fondue or fine French cuisine, the resorts finest chefs and butlers will be waiting for you as you arrive (via helicopter) for lunch.
The pre-lunch helicopter tour offers some of the best views of The Alps and, for keen skiers, there’s an exhilarating post lunch off-piste run back. For those who’ve consumed far too much Champagne or prefer a more leisurely holiday pace, hop back on the helicopter and head for the chalet spa!
