The building which replaces the two towers of the World Trade Center is now nearing completion. With the addition of the spire, it is now the tallest building in the Western hemisphere, topping out at a symbolic 1,776 ft (541m) – a reference to the year of America’s independence. The skyscraper is expected to open next year and among the tenants will be magazine publisher Conde Nast.
