3 of the most awe-inspiring water villas in the Maldives
Maldives where you can walk barefoot along the beach, snorkel before breakfast and admire the sunset with a cold glass of white. For many of us this dream includes staying in a water villa where panoramic views, privacy and luxury come hand in hand. Competition in the Maldives for creating the most wow factor is certainly on the rise and resorts are getting more and more creative. We have selected our top 3 water villas in the Maldives based on their unique designs and styles combined with the facilities and service offered.
Niyama, A Per AQUUM Resort, Maldives
With its cutting edge designs, contemporary atmosphere and playful approach, Niyama Resort has become one of the hottest islands in the Maldives. This year saw the opening of their new family friendly play island along with the development of their underwater restaurant, Subsix.
Niyamas Water Studio with Pools had to be featured in our top 3 due to the unique design. These spacious villas combine the natural beauty of the island and cutting edge modern design seamlessly. Guests can enjoy a private pool, Jacuzzi and outdoor seating area while inside youll find a spacious bedroom and bathroom. Your personal butler will ensure everything is taken care of and your mini fridge packed full of drinks and delicious deli goods will provide the perfect sunset drinks and snacks.
Six Senses Laamu
Six Senses Laamu is the only resort in the Laamu Atoll and guests can enjoy surfing (yes, really) and incredible diving. For those looking for a bit of pampering the spa is on hand while those food travellers among us (I talk from experience!) can visit the resorts ice and chocolate studio to try perfectly combined flavours providing the perfect sweet treat. Six Senses Laamu operates on an eco-friendly policy and all villas are made from natural materials giving the island a real barefoot luxury feel.
Set at the end of a long wooden jetty protruding into the blue lagoon, The Laamu Water Villas offer total privacy and seclusion. Guests can enjoy the panoramic ocean views from the spacious deck which includes a private infinity pool, an over water hammock, a day bed, sun loungers and a glass table area perfect for a sunset drink. If you get tired of the view (we highly doubt you will!) head up to your roof deck to enjoy a different perspective. The villas large glass panels and windows provide a light and airy space where your bed takes centre stage. A soak in your glass bath is a must!
Gili Lankanfushi
Renowned for its bare foot luxury ethos, guests of Gili Lankanfushi can experience the hideaway island feeling while enjoying the many luxuries expected of a high quality resort. Dining is exemplary with an underground wine cellar, a chocolate cave, themed evenings and a balanced variety of east meets west cuisine. For those who struggle to sit still Gili Lankanfushi offers an exciting range of activities and excursions from boat trips on their 45 foot luxury yacht, diving at one of the many nearby diving spots (including the famous Manta Point) or perhaps a luxury spa treatment at the overwater spa.
The Residence at Gili Lankanfushi is a spacious overwater hideaway ideal for friends or families. Guests can sip wine from the private wine cellar, relax on the spacious sundeck or enjoy an evening meal on the rooftop terrace with breath taking views. Your Mr Friday is also on hand to arrange anything you may require such as a day of diving, a snorkelling trip or perhaps taking the kids on their own adventure while mum and dad can enjoy a few hours relaxing. Looking to experience something unique? Wed recommend a private movie under the stars for a truly unforgettable experience.

Wow amazing spots, imagine waking up with 360 degree views of the turquoise ocean, stunning! I especially like the outdoor cinema, toes in the sand while watching a movie outside sounds like a good way to spend the evening.

You had me at glass bath and over water hammock! Sounds like a lot of splashing to get chilled out, you know how tricky hammocks can be…. Great reviews, well done
My husband and I have just arrived back after 10 days at six senses laamu. We stayed in an overwater villa and it did not disappoint. Most amazing resort we have ever been to.
