  1. Fuerteventura is my favourite out of all the Canary Islands, with those vast sandy beaches there’s more than a touch of the Caribbean to it. Though if you dip your toes in the Atlantic it is a lot more chilly than the Caribbean. I’ve visited a few times but I never realised that there was this much choice of good hotels.

    1. Thanks Peter. Yes, the dunes in Corralejo or the beaches down in the south in Jandia are particularly lovely and possibly the best in the Canaries. I think the island could benefit from a few more 5 star hotels, but there’s a good selection of 4 stars as well.

  2. It must be great to be an architect designing hotel pools like these great creations. Most of the time you are working with a beautiful shoreline on Fuerteventura and you just have to fit one more beautiful piece into the jigsaw.

    1. Thank Nick. Such an important part of the hotel as that’s where the majority of people tend to spend their days. There’s nothing worse than a standard rectangular or circular pool. Infinity pools along shorelines seem to be a popular concept as well.

  3. There’s a case for saying that you ought to have two centre visits to Fuerteventura. To me the north is a lot more Spanish though heading south with all those all inclusive hotels with amazing beaches it seems more cosmopolitan and international.

    1. Thanks Lynne. We have some surfing customers who love to stay in the small resort of El Cotillo in the north, or some that prefer inland in places such as La Oliva. A two centre would certainly be a way to get the best of both worlds.

  4. Ooo saltwater outdoor pools, always wanted to take a dip in one of those. I don’t know why as I don’t usually spend long in pools when I travel, but I always factor them in when booking a holiday. There are some gorgeous choices. Infinity pools seem to be v popular lately, but I quite like the ones with lots of variety with the shape like the Barcelo Fuerteventura Thalasso Spa one. Plenty of seating there too and I love the little bridge. Really like the H10 Ocean Suites one as well. Judging by the fab TripAdvisor reviews these places have a lot going for them and the pools are a good bonus. You can’t beat the weather and the views either. Got a friend that likes Fuerteventura, she seems to go every year since she was a kid because her folks used to take her there. I can see why she loves it so much.

    1. Thanks Becky. It’s difficult to have just one as a favourite. Like yourself, I prefer a pool that’s not just rectangular or circular as it adds interest and you feel like more thought has gone into the design. Fortunately, it’s a year-round destination unlike other areas of Spain where it’s mainly May-September for the best weather.

  5. I find that I am partial to a beach resort with its own pool. For me, it’s all about having a choice to have sand beneath my toes or relaxing by the pool bar. So it’s a plus that almost, if not all, of the pool featured in this post are close or by the beach. It will be a hard choice for those planning to visit Fuerteventura.

    1. I agree Stewart – nothing like having the best of both worlds. A pool next to the beach gives you many choices.
