We have included just 4 and 5 star hotels, and they all have a winning combination of colourful slides, tipping water buckets, sprinklers, water jets, tropical animals and magical dragons.
Once we are all travelling again, all these will ensure that your children will have a splashing good time!
TENERIFE1. Adrian Roca Nivaria Gran Hotel
This is a 5 star hotel with a current TripAdvisor rating of 4.5 out of 5. Located in the resort of Playa Paraiso in southwest Tenerife. The children will adore the hotel’s RoniAventura splash pool complete with slides, waterfall, a sunken shop with several water jets to keep the youngsters cool. Roni is the hotel’s mascot – a pilot whale – which children will no doubt love.
Located beachfront (with access via a lift from the hotel). You will be able to walk the 100m from the resort centre of Playa Paraiso and 10km from Costa Adeje. The transfer from the airport will take 40 minutes.
2. Ritz-Carlton Abama Hotel
A 5 star hotel located in the resort of Guia de Isora, south Tenerife, with a current TripAdvisor rating of 4.5 out of 5. There are 7 outdoor pools including an outdoor heated pool with a children’s section in the main area of the hotel. The splash pool includes gentle waterfalls and pool balls. With lots of sunbeds and parasols adjacent to the pool, adults can then take time to relax.
The hotel is in a quiet location next to an exclusive beach to which there is direct access. The transfer from the airport will take approximately 50 minutes and you are 4km from the nearby resort of Playa San Juan.

Book a family room, and you will have direct access to the children’s splash park. The children also have their own bedroom. Children will enjoy the tipping water bucket, water guns, sprinklers, water cannons and waterfall.
The hotel is beachfront and just 30 minutes transfer from the airport, you will also be just 1km from the resort centre.
5. Gran Melia Palacio de Isora
The 5-star Gran Melia Palacio de Isora is in the relatively quiet resort of Guia de Isora in the south of the island of Tenerife. The hotel currently has a TripAdvisor rating of 4.5 out of 5. The young ones will love the splash area complete with shipwreck, sprinklers, slides and play area.

You will get to the hotel in around 45 minutes from the airport and will be 500m to a selection of shops and 10km to the resort centre of Costa Adeje.

The hotel has direct access to the promenade into the resort centre (just over 1.5km from the hotel). There are closer shops, bars and restaurants at around 350km from the hotel, and the transfer from the airport will take you about 30 minutes.

The fairytale setting of this 5-star hotel is in the southern part of the island of Tenerife, the resort of Golf del Sur. The hotel has a current TripAdvisor rating of 4 out of 5. The colourful splash area, set again the fairytale castle, comprises sprinklers, waterfall and slide – enough to keep them cool on the hottest of days.
The hotel is located on the seafront, just a 15 minute transfer from the airport. The resort centre of Golf del Sur is a little under 1km from the hotel and there is a pebble beach just 700m away.
10. GF Victoria
The 5-star GF Victoria in the south of Tenerife (resort of Costa Caleta), has a current TripAdvisor rating of 4.5 out of 5. There is a wonderful splash park for the children with water slides, and a separate area for the smaller children comprising sprinklers, beach hut slides, waterfall and a palm tree sprinkler in the centre.
You’ll be just 450m from the beach and about 750m from the resort centre of Costa Adeje. Just a 30 minute transfer will see you arriving at the hotel from the airport.
FUERTEVENTURA11. Fuerteventura Princess
This 4-star hotel is in the south of the island of Fuerteventura, in the resort of Jandia. Well known for its extensive beach, this particular hotel has a TripAdvisor rating of 4 out of 5. The lovely pool area has a toddlers section (just off their play area). Here, they can play on the shipwreck and the small slides down to the shallow pool.
The hotel has direct access to the beach and is 4.5km from Jandia resort centre. Be prepared for a longer transfer time of 1hr 45minutes from the airport.
12. Elba Carlota Hotel
A 4-star hotel with a TripAdvisor current rating of 4 out of 5. Located in the east of the island of Fuerteventura, in the resort of Costa Caleta. The small children will be entertained by the splash pool featuring water jets, slide, and colourful animals.
The hotel has direct access to the beach and is just 100m from the nearest bars, shops and restaurants. There is a daily complimentary bus to Caleta de Fuste which is just 1km from the hotel. It will only take 20 minutes to transfer from the airport.
13. Sheraton Fuerteventura Beach Golf and Spa
Also in the resort of Costa Caleta, is this 5-star hotel with a TripAdvisor rating of 4.5 out of 5. The children’s splash pool comprises slides and sprinklers.
You will be located beachfront and just 1km from the resort centre. Again, you’re just a 20 minute transfer from the airport.
14. Pierre and Vacances Village Club Fuerteventura Origo Mare
This is a 4-star hotel with a current TripAdvisor rating of 4 out of 5. Located in La Oliva, in the north of Fuerteventura, about 2km inland. The children’s splash area comprises water buckets, range of slides, and sprinklers.
The hotel is about a 1 hour 20 minute transfer from the airport and is 2km from Playa de Majanicho beach. You are located quite a distance from the resorts of El Cotillo (17km), and Corralejo (19km), although there is a complimentary bus service (one a week to El Cotillo, and 6 times a week to Corralejo.
15. Iberostar Playa Gaviotas Park
A current TripAdvisor rating of 4.5 out of 5 for this 4 star hotel in the resort of Jandia, southern Fuerteventura. The very colourful Aquafun children’s splash park awaits with sprinklers and slides. Giant flowers, butterflies, and palm trees will make wonderful photo opportunities as well.
Just 200m from the extensive beach area, you will have quite a long transfer time of 1 hour 45 minutes. The resort of Jandia is just 1.5km from the hotel.
LANZAROTE16. Iberostar Selection Lanzarote Park
This 5-star hotel, with a TripAdvisor rating of 4.5 out of 5 is located in the south of the island of Lanzarote in the resort of Playa Blanca. The children’s pool has multiple slides as well as sprinklers, tipping water buckets, waterfall, and a central volcano play area.
You’ll be directly on the seafront, just 50m from the beach and a short stroll into Playa Blanca. 45 minutes will see you arriving at the hotel from the airport.
17. Gran Castillo Tagoro Hotel
The Gran Castillo Tagoro is a 5 star hotel with a TripAdvisor rating currently of 4.5 out of 5. You will be in the popular and busy resort of Playa Blanca in the south of the island of Lanzarote. The outdoor saltwater children’s pool (heated) comes complete with slides, magic dragon, and other things to keep them amused, and cool, in the water.
Just 1km from the sandy Playa Papagayo beach and 1km from Marina Rubicon. A little further will bring you into the resort centre of Playa Blanca, and you will be just 45 minutes from the airport.
18. H10 Suites Lanzarote Gardens
This 4 star hotel has a current TripAdvisor rating of 4.5 out of 5. You will be on the east coast of Lanzarote in the lovely resort of Costa Teguise. The outdoor pool has slides from a shipwreck, and a water dome for children, along with sprinklers (heated). For additional fun, you can also stay at this hotel with access to the nearby Aquapark Costa Teguise included. There’s a large section for younger children that will keep them amused all day.
Just a 30 minute transfer will bring you to the hotel which is just a short stroll (200m) from La Cucharas beach and 500m from the resort centre of Costa Teguise.
19. Vitalclass Lanzarote Sport and Wellness Resort
This is a 4-star hotel with a TripAdvisor rating of 4 out of 5. Again, located in the popular resort of Costa Teguise to the east of Lanzarote. A lovely small splash area for the little ones with colourful sprinklers and slides.
You’ll be here in just 30 minutes from the airport, and will be just under 1km from Playa Bastian beach and 1.3km from the resort centre.
20. Aequora Lanzarote Suites
The 4-star Aequora Lanzarote Suites have a current TripAdvisor rating of 4.5 out of 5. You will be staying in the small resort of Playa de los Pocillos in the southeast of the island. For the little ones, there’s a bright, multi-section, splash park – Bubbles. They’ll have hours of fun with the water buckets, slides and sprinklers.
You’ll be just 250m to the nearest beach and 1km from the resort centre. If you prefer a busier resort, then Puerto del Carmen is 3km from the hotel. Just a 20 minute transfer will see you arriving at this hotel.
21. H10 Rubicon Palace
A 5-star hotel in the busy resort of Playa Blanca in Lanzarote. The hotel has a TripAdvisor rating of 4.5 out of 5. Extensive pool areas with a children’s Daily Club splash area with pirate ship, slide, fun jets and a giant waterfall mushroom.
Just 45 minutes transfer from the airport, the H10 Rubicon Palace is located in the south of Lanzarote just 500 metres from a small sandy cove. The centre of Playa Blanca is 2.5 kilometres from the hotel, but you will find some shops, bars and restaurants just 200 metres away.
22. Elba Lanzarote Royal Village Resort
This 4-star hotel, with a current TripAdvisor rating of 4.5 out of 5 is located in the popular resort of Playa Blanca to the south of the island of Lanzarote. The Pepeland large splash area for children has water buckets, waterfall, slides and games.
The hotel is just 45 minutes from the airport and a distance of 600m from Playa Blanca beach and a little further to the resort centre.
GRAN CANARIA23. Paradise Valle Taurito and Waterpark
Located in the resort of Playa Taurito in the southwest of Gran Canaria is the 4 star Paradise Valle Taurito (with a current TripAdvisor rating of 4 out of 5). The Waterpark is suitable for people of all ages, but includes a section dedicated to the younger children, complete with shipwreck and waterslides.
Stay here and you will receive unlimited waterpark entry. The hotel is also close to the sandy beach (70m) and the nearby alternative resort of Puerto de Mogan is just 5km away. The transfer will take just 50 minutes from the airport.
24. Abora Buenavista by Lopesan
This 4 star hotel currently has a TripAdvisor rating of 4 out of 5. Located in the busy resort of Playa del Ingles in the south of the island of Gran Canaria. The splash park for younger children comprises sprinklers, water dome, waterfall, and more. It is also possible to stay at the hotel that includes access to Aqualand Maspalomas (6km away) with its water mini-slides for the younger ones.
You’ll be just under 1km from Playa del Ingles resort centre and beach, and 30 minutes from the airport. The hotel has a shuttle bus to the beach if you want a change from the hotel pool.
25. Taurito Princess
Stay at this 4 star hotel in the resort of Playa Taurito, on the southwest coast of Gran Canaria with a TripAdvisor rating of 4 out of 5. Let the youngsters lose themselves at the dragon in the splash pool complete with waterslide.
The hotel is located on a shingle beach with the benefit of a lido next to the hotel. About 4km from the hotel is the pretty resort of Puerto de Mogan. A transfer from the airport will take around 50 minutes.
26. Riu Gran Canaria
The 4-star Riu Gran Canaria with its TripAdvisor rating of 4.5 out of 5, is located in the resort of Maspalomas (Meloneras) on the southern coast of Gran Canaria. The children’s splash park comprises sprinklers, colourful dragon with slide, waterfall, and further slides.

The hotel is just 1.5kn from the beach in Playa del Ingles and 500m from the resort centre. A transfer time of just 30 minutes from the airport.
29. Tabaiba Princess
This 4-star hotel, currently has a TripAdvisor rating of 4 out of 5. Located in the resort of Maspalomas on the south coast of Gran Canaria. The extensive children’s splash pool comes with sprinklers, tipping water buckets, slides, games and jungle animals including elephants, giraffe, and parrots.
Just 30 minutes from the airport, the hotel is 1.5km from the famous Maspalomas sand dunes and 3km from Playa del Ingles. There are closer shops and amenities 70mm from the hotel.
30. Abora Interclub Atlantic by Lopesan
In the southern resort of San Agustin on the island of Gran Canaria, you will find the Abora Interclub Atlantic. A 4-star hotel with a current TripAdvisor rating of 4 out of 5. The kids’ splash park comprises multiple water buckets, sprinklers and other games to keep them amused.
Although the hotel is 800m from the beach in San Agustin, there is a twice daily shuttle service. The resort centre in San Agustin is just 1.5km from the hotel and the transfer from the airport will take just 30 minutes.

A hotel boasting a great pool area has to be a priority with kids. Any one of the pools would keep the kids happy for hours whilst we just relax on a sun lounger.
Let’s pray that by early summer enough people have been vaccinated for our children to be able to enjoy the fun of holidays. Too many kids have lost too much of their childhood.
Kids surely do not mind staying in an average type of hotel room, but they really have an eye for splash pools and play areas that will keep them entertained for the duration of their vacation. I noticed that most splash pools have common features such as slides, sprinklers, and colorful designs that fits their target market. I’m glad to know that a number of hotels consider providing an enjoyable stay to their young guests by giving attention to such features. While it is good that children enjoy their time in the pool, parents or guardians must also look for a spot where they can easily observe their kids to avoid accidents from happening, especially when they are having fun with on their own or with new-found friends. My favorites among these hotels are H10 Atlantic Sunset, Sheraton Fuerteventura Beach Golf and Spa, and Abora Buenavista by Lopesan. Aside from its features that I mentioned a while ago, these three have spacious lounging area where I can hang around with the rest of the family while the kids are having fun.
We have taken a few family holidays in the Canaries and Iberostar Bouganville Playa in Tenerife is a firm favourite. Close to a marina (for excursions), BoBo beach and Siam Park its location was ideal for our older teens. Whilst there they spent 2 full days at the water park which was only a 10-minute walk. The hotel itself was immaculate, had beautiful pool areas and lovely buffet restaurants that cooked some foods to order. All in all, an enjoyable holiday for everyone. Top Tip: treat yourself to a sea view!
These are beautiful hotels but one needs to have deep pockets to visit them. I would love to visit and stay in some of these places but I need to work hard to do that. Thank you for sharing these amazing places.

You are located quite a distance from the resorts of El Cotillo (17km), and Corralejo (19km), although there is a complimentary bus service (one a week to El Cotillo, and 6 times a week to Corralejo.
15. Iberostar Playa Gaviotas Park
A current TripAdvisor rating of 4.5 out of 5 for this 4 star hotel in the resort of Jandia, southern Fuerteventura. The very colourful Aquafun children’s splash park awaits with sprinklers and slides. Giant flowers, butterflies, and palm trees will make wonderful photo opportunities as well.
Just 200m from the extensive beach area, you will have quite a long transfer time of 1 hour 45 minutes. The resort of Jandia is just 1.5km from the hotel.
LANZAROTE
16. Iberostar Selection Lanzarote Park
This 5-star hotel, with a TripAdvisor rating of 4.5 out of 5 is located in the south of the island of Lanzarote in the resort of Playa Blanca. The children’s pool has multiple slides as well as sprinklers, tipping water buckets, waterfall, and a central volcano play area.
You’ll be directly on the seafront, just 50m from the beach and a short stroll into Playa Blanca. 45 minutes will see you arriving at the hotel from the airport.
17. Gran Castillo Tagoro Hotel
The Gran Castillo Tagoro is a 5 star hotel with a TripAdvisor rating currently of 4.5 out of 5. You will be in the popular and busy resort of Playa Blanca in the south of the island of Lanzarote. The outdoor saltwater children’s pool (heated) comes complete with slides, magic dragon, and other things to keep them amused, and cool, in the water.
Just 1km from the sandy Playa Papagayo beach and 1km from Marina Rubicon. A little further will bring you into the resort centre of Playa Blanca, and you will be just 45 minutes from the airport.
18. H10 Suites Lanzarote Gardens
This 4 star hotel has a current TripAdvisor rating of 4.5 out of 5. You will be on the east coast of Lanzarote in the lovely resort of Costa Teguise. The outdoor pool has slides from a shipwreck, and a water dome for children, along with sprinklers (heated). For additional fun, you can also stay at this hotel with access to the nearby Aquapark Costa Teguise included. There’s a large section for younger children that will keep them amused all day.
Just a 30 minute transfer will bring you to the hotel which is just a short stroll (200m) from La Cucharas beach and 500m from the resort centre of Costa Teguise.
19. Vitalclass Lanzarote Sport and Wellness Resort
This is a 4-star hotel with a TripAdvisor rating of 4 out of 5. Again, located in the popular resort of Costa Teguise to the east of Lanzarote. A lovely small splash area for the little ones with colourful sprinklers and slides.
You’ll be here in just 30 minutes from the airport, and will be just under 1km from Playa Bastian beach and 1.3km from the resort centre.
20. Aequora Lanzarote Suites
The 4-star Aequora Lanzarote Suites have a current TripAdvisor rating of 4.5 out of 5. You will be staying in the small resort of Playa de los Pocillos in the southeast of the island. For the little ones, there’s a bright, multi-section, splash park – Bubbles. They’ll have hours of fun with the water buckets, slides and sprinklers.
You’ll be just 250m to the nearest beach and 1km from the resort centre. If you prefer a busier resort, then Puerto del Carmen is 3km from the hotel. Just a 20 minute transfer will see you arriving at this hotel.
21. H10 Rubicon Palace
A 5-star hotel in the busy resort of Playa Blanca in Lanzarote. The hotel has a TripAdvisor rating of 4.5 out of 5. Extensive pool areas with a children’s Daily Club splash area with pirate ship, slide, fun jets and a giant waterfall mushroom.
Just 45 minutes transfer from the airport, the H10 Rubicon Palace is located in the south of Lanzarote just 500 metres from a small sandy cove. The centre of Playa Blanca is 2.5 kilometres from the hotel, but you will find some shops, bars and restaurants just 200 metres away.
22. Elba Lanzarote Royal Village Resort
This 4-star hotel, with a current TripAdvisor rating of 4.5 out of 5 is located in the popular resort of Playa Blanca to the south of the island of Lanzarote. The Pepeland large splash area for children has water buckets, waterfall, slides and games.
The hotel is just 45 minutes from the airport and a distance of 600m from Playa Blanca beach and a little further to the resort centre.
GRAN CANARIA
23. Paradise Valle Taurito and Waterpark
Located in the resort of Playa Taurito in the southwest of Gran Canaria is the 4 star Paradise Valle Taurito (with a current TripAdvisor rating of 4 out of 5). The Waterpark is suitable for people of all ages, but includes a section dedicated to the younger children, complete with shipwreck and waterslides.
Stay here and you will receive unlimited waterpark entry. The hotel is also close to the sandy beach (70m) and the nearby alternative resort of Puerto de Mogan is just 5km away. The transfer will take just 50 minutes from the airport.
24. Abora Buenavista by Lopesan
This 4 star hotel currently has a TripAdvisor rating of 4 out of 5. Located in the busy resort of Playa del Ingles in the south of the island of Gran Canaria. The splash park for younger children comprises sprinklers, water dome, waterfall, and more. It is also possible to stay at the hotel that includes access to Aqualand Maspalomas (6km away) with its water mini-slides for the younger ones.
You’ll be just under 1km from Playa del Ingles resort centre and beach, and 30 minutes from the airport. The hotel has a shuttle bus to the beach if you want a change from the hotel pool.
25. Taurito Princess
Stay at this 4 star hotel in the resort of Playa Taurito, on the southwest coast of Gran Canaria with a TripAdvisor rating of 4 out of 5. Let the youngsters lose themselves at the dragon in the splash pool complete with waterslide.
The hotel is located on a shingle beach with the benefit of a lido next to the hotel. About 4km from the hotel is the pretty resort of Puerto de Mogan. A transfer from the airport will take around 50 minutes.
26. Riu Gran Canaria
The 4-star Riu Gran Canaria with its TripAdvisor rating of 4.5 out of 5, is located in the resort of Maspalomas (Meloneras) on the southern coast of Gran Canaria. The children’s splash park comprises sprinklers, colourful dragon with slide, waterfall, and further slides.
Lovely ocean views from the hotel, you’ll be just 900m from the Maspalomas sand dunes and beach and 6km from Playa del Ingles. Just 30 minutes will see you arriving from the airport.
27. Riu Vistamar
The 4 star Riu Vistamar has a current TripAdvisor rating of 4 out of 5. Located in the resort of Amadores on the southwest coast of the island of Gran Canaria. A lovely splash area with tropical fish mini-slide, palm tree waterfall, tipping water bucket and additional multiple slides.
The hotel is located on a hillside near to the Playa Amadores beach (access can be reached via courtesy bus). The centre is just 600m from the hotel and the nearby resort of Puerto Rico just 3km away. It will be a 1hr transfer from the hotel.
28. Riu Papayas
A 4-star hotel with a TipAdvisor rating of 4.5 out of 5. Located in the busy and popular resort of Playa del Ingles on the south coast of the island of Gran Canaria. The splash pool comes with palm tree waterfall, tipping water bucket, slides and sprinklers.
The hotel is just 1.5kn from the beach in Playa del Ingles and 500m from the resort centre. A transfer time of just 30 minutes from the airport.
29. Tabaiba Princess
This 4-star hotel, currently has a TripAdvisor rating of 4 out of 5. Located in the resort of Maspalomas on the south coast of Gran Canaria. The extensive children’s splash pool comes with sprinklers, tipping water buckets, slides, games and jungle animals including elephants, giraffe, and parrots.
Just 30 minutes from the airport, the hotel is 1.5km from the famous Maspalomas sand dunes and 3km from Playa del Ingles. There are closer shops and amenities 70mm from the hotel.
30. Abora Interclub Atlantic by Lopesan
In the southern resort of San Agustin on the island of Gran Canaria, you will find the Abora Interclub Atlantic. A 4-star hotel with a current TripAdvisor rating of 4 out of 5. The kids’ splash park comprises multiple water buckets, sprinklers and other games to keep them amused.
Although the hotel is 800m from the beach in San Agustin, there is a twice daily shuttle service. The resort centre in San Agustin is just 1.5km from the hotel and the transfer from the airport will take just 30 minutes.

A hotel boasting a great pool area has to be a priority with kids. Any one of the pools would keep the kids happy for hours whilst we just relax on a sun lounger.
Let’s pray that by early summer enough people have been vaccinated for our children to be able to enjoy the fun of holidays. Too many kids have lost too much of their childhood.
This is a great list of hotels on the Canary Islands. It is one of my best winter destinations. Perfect for the October half-term school holidays.
Kids surely do not mind staying in an average type of hotel room, but they really have an eye for splash pools and play areas that will keep them entertained for the duration of their vacation. I noticed that most splash pools have common features such as slides, sprinklers, and colorful designs that fits their target market. I’m glad to know that a number of hotels consider providing an enjoyable stay to their young guests by giving attention to such features. While it is good that children enjoy their time in the pool, parents or guardians must also look for a spot where they can easily observe their kids to avoid accidents from happening, especially when they are having fun with on their own or with new-found friends. My favorites among these hotels are H10 Atlantic Sunset, Sheraton Fuerteventura Beach Golf and Spa, and Abora Buenavista by Lopesan. Aside from its features that I mentioned a while ago, these three have spacious lounging area where I can hang around with the rest of the family while the kids are having fun.
We have taken a few family holidays in the Canaries and Iberostar Bouganville Playa in Tenerife is a firm favourite. Close to a marina (for excursions), BoBo beach and Siam Park its location was ideal for our older teens. Whilst there they spent 2 full days at the water park which was only a 10-minute walk. The hotel itself was immaculate, had beautiful pool areas and lovely buffet restaurants that cooked some foods to order. All in all, an enjoyable holiday for everyone. Top Tip: treat yourself to a sea view!
These are beautiful hotels but one needs to have deep pockets to visit them. I would love to visit and stay in some of these places but I need to work hard to do that. Thank you for sharing these amazing places.
