7 ways to make a splash in Mallorca
Mallorca have some good ones!
Some of these swimming pools are about blurring the lines between the man-made and the natural with stunning infinity pools and others allow swimmers to immerse themselves in stunning landscapes and seascapes at the same time. Add in good service, great food, and these hotel pools can make for an unforgettable holiday. Here is a selection to whet your appetite !
Carrossa Spa Villas
Five-star Carrossa Hotel is set in a peaceful 800-acre estate and enjoys panoramic views of both mountains and sea. With two restaurants and an outstanding spa, this really is countryside bliss. Perfectly located just minutes from the pretty town of Artà, and just a 15-minute drive to the picturesque seaside village of Colonia de Sant Pere and the sandy beach of Cala Torta.
The pools
There are two to choose from. Offering 360 degree views, the infinity pool is large. Splash about to your heart´s content, rest on the cabanas or sun beds between dips and order yourself a refreshing drink from the pool bar, Bar Oro. There is also an indoor full size pool in the spa area with floor to ceiling windows offering those same majestic views.
Pure Salt Port Adriano
The five-star Pure Salt Port Adriano, set above a sandy bay and a fashionable marina designed by Philippe Starck, is seriously stylish. With a wide selection of sea – facing rooms, some with swim-up pools, fine dining, a huge spa and superb location for golfers, this hotel is a great choice.
The pools
You have a choice of three. The main pool is nestled perfectly in front of the hotel, where you can plunge and gaze out to sea. It’s all about peace and tranquilly here at this adults only hotel. There is also an adjacent hydromassage pool and a few steps away access to the Ona spa on the lower floor of the hotel offers another vast indoor pool.
Hotel Espléndido
Swedish owners Mikael and Johanna Landstrom bought this 1950s seaside Grande Dame which was in desperate need of refurbishment and restored it to the chic iconic seafront hotel we see today. A popular haunt for Scandinavians, Brits and the odd celebrity, the same staff have been serving guests for years making your return feel like home from home. Nothing is too much trouble.
The pools
Head up to the 5th floor where you cross a lofty wooden bridge to where, not one but two pools have been build into the hillside with terraces (the top one is a thermal pool for adults only). This really is the best spot for sea views and dreamy vista of the Port of Sóller. There is also a generous indoor pool in the hotel´s spa.
Zafiro Palace Alcudia
The sophisticated five star Zafiro Palace Alcudia brought something quite new to Majorca when it opened in 2015. A hotel offering luxury accommodation with a dedicated family focus, outstanding child-friendly facilities and flawless service.
At the same time, so cleverly designed is this chic retreat set in acres of space, that singles and couples will also feel cosseted and very much at home here. With a large spa, kids club, fine dining in four restaurants its a winning formula.
The pools
Or should I say endless pools. You are never far from water at Zafiro Palace Alcudia with 12 pools to choose from! There is the main pool, the largest, the ”Wet Bubble” pool, designed for fun, six swim up pools, an adults only pool surrounded by a chill out area, two indoor swimming pools and a kids’ pool with a pirate ship. Each surrounded with sunbeds and just a wave away from the friendly face of the Zafiro staff should you need a refreshment.
Jumeirah Port Sóller Hotel and Spa
The luxurious five-star Jumeirah Port Sóller hotel commands spectacular panoramic vistas of both the Port’s perfect horseshoe bay and the Tramuntana mountains. In several buildings layered into the mountainside, the hotel seemlessly links the hotels rooms, restaurants, spa and bars. Choose between a mountain view room or sea view, book a treatment at the award winning spa and enjoy fine dining at any of the three restaurants. Oh and don’t forget to have a cocktail in the sunset lounge.
The pools
Of which there are three. All heated. The main pool, Sa Talaia, with large terrace and adjacent bar and restaurant is the family pool. A few staircases away is the very photogenic adults only infinity pool and the third is an open-air hydropool located in the spa area overlooking the Tramuntana mountains. Magical.
Belmond La Residencia
Nestled in the UNESCO World Heritage Tramuntana mountains, the Belmond La Residencia is a winner. You simply cannot beat the setting here. This exquisite property has become one of the most revered in terms of hotels to visit in a lifetime. With the sumptuous comforts that one would expect at a 5 Star hotel, La Residencia embeds the culture and heritage of the island and you simply could not be anywhere else, other than Mallorca. Located in the village of Deiá, famous for its artists and celebrity visitors, the hotel offers suites and villas across various categories. The award winning spa offers a wide selection of treatments and in the kitchen Chef Guillermo Mendez is a master at his craft and has been in residence for many years.
The pools
There is one main heated pool which is set in the most romantic of settings with views to the sea and the mountains and surrounded by Cypress and Olive trees. There is also a full size pool in the spa and I have to mention the pool suites and in particular the new Matthew Williamson Suite complete with private terrace and pool.
Creu de Tau Art and Spa Hotel
Hotel Creu de Tau Art and Spa is a very special addition to the collection of luxury hotels on Mallorca. Situated in Capdepera in the far north east of Mallorca, the owners have worked tirelessly to convert this 19th century convent and adjacent theatre into a luxury boutique hotel offering visitors something very special in this quieter corner of the island.
With a choice of rooms and suites, some offering views across to Capdepera, a unique bar designed around the old chapel and fine dining, this hotel deserves its place on the Mallorca luxury hotels map.
The pools
There are two pools, one outside surrounded by Bali beds and offering outstanding views of fortress town of Capdepera complete with hill-top castle still intact. There is a footbridge that connects the top floor of the hotel directly to the hillside gardens, which lead straight to the swimming pool area. The second pool which can be seen in a straight line of sight from the stairs or lift as you reach the spa area on the lower ground floor, is set romantically below the original vaulted ceiling. Very special.
So when you are looking to give a hotel a Best Pool Award, look no further than the wonderful collection that Mallorca has to offer.

It is hard to believe that one small island has so many beautiful places to swim. I’d find it hard to name my favourite from all these. Think I’d have to try them all first.
Hi Beth…yes there is plenty of choice…and I could have gone on and on…more blogs to follow about Magical Mallorca soon…
Who needs meditation apps when you’ve got pools like these? They all look so calm and soothing. I could easily relax at these places.
Sally I know exactly what you mean….what I wouldn’t give to be sitting pool side right now….it won’t be long now I hope !
Lovely post. I know you won’t publish this comment – it’s just to point out a typo. It’s Jumeirah not Jumeriah :)
Hi Carole – just because you’re pointing out a correction doesn’t mean to say we won’t publish your comment! Thanks, I’ll get this corrected.

You’ll make a splash in any of these pools. All have amazing views. Though Mallorca’s beaches can definitely lure you away, just check out Es Calo des Moro. It’s gorgeous!
