Can’t wait to get back to the Costa del Sol. Such an easy flight to Malaga, well under 3 hours from London, then you can walk to the train and easily get along the coast. So good for weekend breaks or longer. One December I can remember being in the hotel pool with the sun setting behind the palm trees – knowing that it was frosty back in the U.K. Some fantastic hotels here to choose from.
Thanks Eileen. Yes, it would be lovely to get anywhere at the moment wouldn’t it. It’s ideal for a short break as well and I’m bringing another article soon on just hotels in Malaga for a city break. Sounds wonderful to be in a hotel pool at the moment – hopefully very soon though!
I fear that many travellers to the Costa del Sol arrive at the airport and then immediately head west. Once upon a time, Malaga was dirty and unexciting but it’s really sharpened up its act recently. I think it’s got something like 30 museums, a great sea front and a lively covered market at the heart of the old town. I look forward to reading your piece on Malaga.
The Costa del Sol always feels that you’ve travelled further than you actually have. It’s really not that far from North Africa and there’s a big influence on the architecture and food from the likes of Morocco and Tunisia. You’re getting a bit of exotic bang for your bucks.
Good point Valerie. Yes, there’s definitely an influence from North Africa with the Moorish architecture. The Costa del Sol is so close to other stunning places to visit such as Cordoba, Cadiz, Seville. Oh, so many destinations to see.
We’ve been occupying ourselves on a rainy afternoon by trying to decide which one of these fabulous hotels we would choose. My wife likes to wile away some hours in a serene spa but is in no hurry to have another Thalasso treatment and I always willing to try the local golf courses. Over the years we’ve enjoyed browsing the art galleries and boutiques of Marbella as well as sampling some truly first rate sea food. I’m afraid to say that the jury is still out. Too hard to
make a decision.
Thanks Tim. I think once I return to travelling I’ll seek out the smaller hotels to stay in. I remember spending an evening in Marbella and had some lovely fish down by the marina. However, the best fish I had was down in Puerto de la Duquesa and was just a ‘shack on the beach’ type of restaurant. Many an hour was spent there enjoying some wonderful fresh seafood where the locals would go and eat. Oh, to travel again.
I miss traveling and staying in hotels and not worry about cleaning after ourselves and work and basically just relaxing. These hotels all look fantastic for such a holiday. Still got a few more months to plan before the weather is perfect.
It will be nice once we can all have the opportunity to travel again won’t it. The thought of staying in a lovely hotel, be waited on, and enjoy some sunshine and lovely food. Not long now I hope!
