Grootbos

Grootbos is a 1,200-hectare nature preserve in the Gansbaai region of South Africa. The cottages here are built of local stone overlook Walker Bay, where you can fish for giant black marlin, tuna and crayfish. Lie by the water and watch the whales breach in front of you: you’re in the front row of the stalls at an incredible natural phenomenon.
Update: I’ve just learned that Grootbos was recently voted Best Family Hotel in the World by Tatler Travel Guide. That’s some accomplishment!
