Chicago bans foie gras

The City Council in Chicago has voted to ban the sale of foie gras by retailers and restaurants in the city. The ban comes into play in 90 days and a fine of $500 faces anyone who violates the regulations. Reservations have been expressed by restaurant owners, unsurprisingly, but also by Richard Daley, the city’s mayor who told the Chicago Sun-Times that there were much bigger issues to deal with than foie gras.
