18 carat gold SLR from Pentax
To celebrate its 60th anniversary, Pentax‘s Korean distributor, ASAHI, is releasing an 18 carat gold and leather SLR with a captivating look. This camera combines new with old – it’s a film camera but is waterproof and dust-resistant, with a shiny gold and alligator trim. Also out now is the rather more modern, 10.2 megapixel Pentax K10D.
I think a camera made of 18 carat gold is just stupid. I’d be scared to go out anywhere with it. It would attract attention and probably get nicked very quickly.
I guess it’s more something for the collector. It might have looked nice alongside my Box Brownie and other interesting artefacts. Even then I think it’s a bit naff. Hey! I’m so rich I can afford a golden camera.
(“I’m so rich that I sleep every night with my head in the safe.” Benny Hill)
Anyway, it’s a Pentax and I’m a Canon girl.
Well said Kay, its even a film camera. If you were still to use what film then a Medium Format Camera would be the best option. Pentax have been watching too many R&B rappers.
Thanks, John.
As far as I know (not much!) a Hasselblad would be the best for medium format.
Ooh, a medium format digital camera. I can only dream! Just looked on Google for Hasselblad digis and the cheapest I saw was almost $9k. That’s an awful lot of money for most people.
Oh well, you never know maybe I’ll win one in a competition one of these days. (Hint!)
Beautiful camera, but not very practical. I would have it as an ornament rather than actually use it.
I’m already annoyed with myself that I don’t take my slr around with me enough due to it’s size and for fear I might lose it! This is up there with the diamond encrusted ipod and It’s actually pretty ugly too.
