Private jets of the ultra-rich

Wings of Justice IIThe ultra-rich aren’t settling for small private jets these days – they’re opting instead for Boeing 737s or upgrading to Dreamliners or even – would you believe it – Airbus A380s.   The attorney Willie Gary has his own Boeing 737 called Wings of Justice II with, among other features, a $1.2 million sound system and an 18-carat gold sink. Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich is said to have recently upgraded to a Boeing 767, and John Travolta has a Boeing 707 and a one-mile long runway in the grounds of his Florida mansion. But it doesn’t stop there… apparently Andrew Winch Designs  and Lufthansa Technik are already in talks with three potential buyers of customized A380s.   Isn’t this getting a little ridiculous?   The whole point of having your own private jet is surely the convenience that it gives you.   Opt for an A380 and you become inconvenienced because of the take-off/landing requirements for a plane of that size. Or am I missing something…?
