For Sale: The Principality of Sealand
The Principality of Sealand is situated in the North Sea, 7 miles off the British coastline, and is officially the world’s smallest country, complete with its own flag, passports, stamps and – would you believe it – national football team, apparently. You can arrive in style, by helicopter, and enjoy 360-degree sea views but, as far as luxury is concerned, it stops right there. Â That’s because Sealand is an old military fort from the 1940s. Anyway, do a Google search and you can learn a lot more about the place but, suffice to say for now, the place is for sale. According to The Times, “offers in the region of eight-digit sums” are being considered… but are we talking British pounds here, or Sealand dollars?
I don’t think this really qualifies as luxury, but it nevertheless caught my eye as it carries the kind of price tag that you might normally associate with extravagance. Â Did you enjoy this article?
