The longest bar in the world… at Christmas
Düsseldorf’s Altstadt (Old Town) is known as ‘the longest bar in the world’ with more than 260 bars, pubs, and restaurants in under a square mile. When more than 200 Christmas-themed huts line the streets of the Altstadt for a whole month, adding candy, crafts, mulled wine and much more, the splendour multiplies and it becomes a winter wonderland for adults and children alike. Until 23rd December 2012, visitors find seven separate Christmas themes and attractions instead of one large market while strolling through Altstadt.
The city offers high-end shopping, primarily on shopping boulevards Königsallee and Shadowstraße which adds even more options for visitors. In fact Königsallee dazzles shoppers all year long with thousands of lights and decorations in the giant chestnut trees that line the elegant street.
