Top 5 exotic beaches in Southeast Asia
scuba diving. Nha Trang is perfect for both backpackers and those who have more to spend for a luxurious holiday. Plus, if you get tired of the beach (seemingly impossible), there are plenty of things to see and do in the city.
Ko Yung, Thailand
Ko Yung is perfect for those who want to explore the underwater treasures of Thailand. Found in the Ko Phi Phi archipelago, Ko Yung is relatively pristine, with its beaches and reefs untouched by years of heavy tourism. Don your scuba gear and see leopard sharks, dazzling coral reefs, and more up close. Locals suggest two great dive sites for visitorsthe Ko Yung Pinnacle (located in the northern part of the island) and Ko Yung South. To get the best diving experience make sure to ask around first and see if the underwater visibility is good or not.
Koh Phangan, Thailand
The second entry for Thailand in this list, the island of Koh Phangan in the southern part of the country is perfect for young travellers who want to party in one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Every month, there is a Full Moon party in Haad Rin, where plenty of delightful drinks and mouth-watering dishes can be had for low prices.
Koh Rong, Cambodia
Cambodia has enjoyed a surge in tourism these past few years, thanks to the huge number of young backpackers who want to travel cheaply. However, despite the number of tourists gracing its shores, Koh Rong still remains as an idyllic getaway for beach lovers. If you want to party while enjoying the balmy night breeze, the southeast part of the island is perfect for you. If, however, you crave some privacy to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the island, the northern and western parts are the best areas for you.

Forget the Caribbean or Mexico if you want a slice of beach paradise, then Southeast Asia is just the place for you. Yes, we do not discount the fact that Mexico and the Caribbean have beautiful beaches, but there are plenty of unexplored slices of paradise in Southeast Asia, where the weather is fine for most of the year. Here are five of the best beaches in Southeast Asia that you should include in your next trip.
El Nido, Philippines
Located in the breathtaking province of Palawan, El Nido is one of those places that will make you fall in love with the world again. Home to long stretches of white sand kissed by gem-clear waters, the beaches of El Nido will definitely captivate your heart. El Nido is one of the top tourist destinations in the Philippines, but completely without the noisy nightlife and teeming tourists of Boracay (also in the Philippines). Enjoy the lovely lagoons framed by marble cliffs, verdant jungles and mangrove forests, and dramatic waterfalls.
Nha Trang, Vietnam
A coastal city found in the Kahn Hoa Province, Nha Trang is just one of the many tourism gems of Vietnam. Aside from the loveliest beaches in the country, Nha Trang is also home to underwater attractions that can be explored by Did you enjoy this article?

I have been told Nha Trang is too much of a party town now and is compared to Cancun. Any comments? I have been told that Ha Long Bay or Phu Quoc are more desirable locations to visit. Do you have any insights on these places in Vietnam compared to Nha Trang?
Me and my fiance are looking for such places like crazy, couldn’t find something special, thank you so much for the article. It could be a bit more detailed though :)
I think the Gili Islands should definitely be on this list. Absolutely stunning! Not sure if I’d agree with Koh Phangan making it in the top 5. Other great ones in SEA are Railay in Krabi province of Thailand and Nusa Lembongan in Bali.
How is it that Boracay Island in the Philippines didn’t make the list? The water is too gorgeous! It is true that it’s quite a party island but there are hidden gems if you look (shouldn’t take too long as the entire island is only about 8km long and pretty narrow). The sand is powder soft and doesn’t ever get hot!
Why not Indonesia? Indonesia has many many beautiful beaches and best place to diving! Like the Raja Ampat, Pink beach in Komodo Island, Togean island, Lombok, Bali, and many more
Nha Trang? Are you serious? Party town for beered-up Russians with a dirty beach. If you want good beaches in Vietnam, go to Bai Sao beach on Phu Quoc Island, or Quy Nhon.
I would agree that El Nido is a top candidate. We visited not to long ago and organised a local finishing trip which made this place even more amazing. Caught 14 snapper with a tinny little drop hook.
Southeast Asia is an interesting alternative, I do think I’d like to try somewhere different to the norm and what I’ve done before when looking at my main holiday next year. I’ve never been diving but it’s on my bucket list so maybe somewhere like Ko Yung would be good. It sounds so pristine, I’m glad they’re able to preserve the area so well. How far is El Nido from Ko Yung? The problem I have is indecision because I have no idea how to choose just one area from a list like this, I would want to spend a little time at each.
