Solitude and seclusion in southern Spain

If you love the Spanish climate and are looking to truly get away from it all – away from screaming children and away from the hustle and bustle of much of the Costa del Sol – then take a look at the total privacy and relaxation offered by DDG Retreat. Perfect for honeymooners or couples seeking peace and tranquillity in the sun, this premier holiday resort can be found just 40 minutes from Gibraltar and only 1.5 hours from Morocco, amidst gorgeous scenery.

DDG Retreat pool

Unique to Europe, this adults-only boutique hotel consists of just six individually-designed casas located on four hectares of land surrounded by lush, tropical gardens. Each of the casas is unique and enjoys its own privacy, complete with private terrace and majestic mountain views. From some you can even see the sea and across Gibraltar to the North African coastline.

Each casa has chill-out beds for the ultimate in relaxation and some (Casa Pino and Casa Oleandro) even have their own private plunge pools, allowing you to instantly get some respite from the sun’s rays. If a heated Jacuzzi for those cooler evenings is more your thing, then opt for Casa Bambu instead where you’ll find the most panoramic and breath-taking views over Pueblо Blanco Casares and a Jacuzzi perched on the cliff.

DDG Retreat shaded dining

So, whatever the occasion – whether it’s your honeymoon, a special anniversary, a romantic break, a celebration, just some quality time away as a couple or even as an intimate wedding venue – and whether it’s just for a weekend or longer – take a look at this boutique accommodation, repeatedly referred to in TripAdvisor reviews as ‘Paradise’. Talking of TripAdvisor, DDG Retreat has received a Certificate of Excellence for 2014 for its consistently excellent reviews.

DDG Retreat bedroom

In addition to the attributes already mentioned, there’s a heated infinity pool, tennis court and a woodland spa offering relaxing treatments using a variety of natural and herbal products. Alternatively treat yourself to a candlelit dinner (each casa has its own private dining facilities) for a truly unforgettable experience. In fact, whatever your wish, DDG Retreat is committed to your every need and desire, with a determination for 100% customer satisfaction.

DDG Retreat terrace

You’d be forgiven for thinking all this comes at a cost but with prices starting from 195 euros per night per casa, a stay here offers you luxury at a very reasonable rate. Please let us know in the comments if you’ve been and what you’re experience was like.

Cannot express how much I love this place, it is a dream getaway where you can completely unwind and take in the beautiful views and scenery! So peaceful and secluded perfect for a weekend away if its all you can manage – but I guarantee you will want to stay longer! Amazing spa set among the trees, home cooked food – breakfast is fantastic and the most friendly hosts who cannot do enough for you! I have been lucky enough to visit twice sampling the different casas all of which are beautiful and unique! And we are fortunate to be visiting next week infact :) however staying in the family villa outside of the retreat since we now have a toddler in tow! You must go you will not regret it!!

Unless my eyes are deceiving me, that looks like an infinity pool in the first photo. How does one return home after visiting such Edens… such cruel beauty ;)

This place is just stunning. There is nothing in the world I would love better than staying in one of those casas and have a breakfast with a view. Ok, maybe I’m exaggerating… it is amazing though.
