5 top girls’ days out in Edinburgh

When the girls get together they need more than just fun.  No girls’ day out is complete without the essential pampering, retail therapy, and catch-up over fizz or cocktails. Edinburgh hosts a playground of luxury experiences and indulgent places for any lady who wants to tick the days out boxes. Shopping at Multrees Walk or Grassmarket There’s no shortage of luxury retail therapy on Edinburgh’s Multrees walk. Strolling between Nespresso, Louis Vuitton and Scotland’s only Harvey Nichols department store, the girls can easily lose a few hours in this designer haven, just a hop away from the plentiful choice of high street stores on Princes Street and the boutiques of George Street. If your taste is more eclectic, take a wander down to the Grassmarket for an intriguing mix of gifts, or seek out the hidden gems of Thistle Street and William Street for unique designer labels and specialist shops. Afternoon tea at The Balmoral When you’re ready for a break, why not do it in style with a spot of afternoon tea at The Balmoral’s Palm Court? Set in elegant surroundings under the glittering glass dome, this sumptuous experience is best enjoyed with live music, luckily the resident harpist is ready to add that additional touch. To make it really special, you can add a glass of champagne. Indulge at the One Spa at the Sheraton Hotel Sometimes indulgence needs to extend beyond retail therapy and to escape the hustle and bustle of the high street, try the One Spa at the Sheraton Hotel. From the rejuvenating Thermal Suite to the 19m infinity edge pool, you’ll have no problem letting all those stresses go. For a quicker visit, try the new express salon, Now by One Spa, for a range of beauty treatments. Drinks at Angels Share Conveniently nestled in Edinburgh’s trendy West End, the Angels Share boasts a tempting list of cocktails, wines and spirits. Visit at night for lively musical entertainment or during a lazy Sunday for more relaxed vibes. Entertainment at the Playhouse For those ‘go big or go home’ days out, treat yourself to an entertainment encore at Edinburgh’s Playhouse. From musicals to musicians, the venue has something for everyone throughout the year. Surrounded by a lively set of bars, the Playhouse is also the perfect place to begin a big night out. Whether it is chatting over fizz, finding Edinburgh’s unique designer goods or de-stressing in the most fabulous surroundings, our city makes it easy for the girls to have fun. 2. I have a trip booked to Edinburgh for next year so this is a superb guide that I needed right now. My daughter and I will be following this – leaving the husband to play golf of course. Afternoon Tea is one of my favourite treats and the Balmoral looks like it offers some real style. I can’t wait to find out if the quality of the food lives up to the surroundings – I hope so. Anyone been?

  3. Ah wow I love this post, I’m planning on visiting Edinburgh soon with my boyfriend, but this is making me want to book a separate trip with my girl friends! I love the look of Angels Share, definitely a relaxing Sunday idea for me, perhaps just after visiting the One spa at the Sheraton Hotel – perfect day out.

  4. When you are going away with a group of friends when in your 30s, you need something a bit more sophisticated than your typical weekend away. Edinburgh sounds like the perfect location for a few days away with the girls to have a few cocktails, take in a play and have a spa day.

  5. Edinburgh sounds perfect for a girls weekend away! Great place for cocktails and a relaxing spa day. Entertainment at the Playhouse also sounds fun. Afternoon tea is always a good idea too.

  6. I am all about afternoon tea and spa days and I have been looking for something fun to do in the UK for my hen party I think I may need to get my ladies together and take a trip to Scotland.

  7. My wife loves her girls’ days out with her friends. Obviously I don’t want to encourage them too much in this as it isn’t over healthy for the credit card bill but from reading this post it looks as if Edinburgh has got an awful lot to offer them. Maybe we could turn it into a weekend away for the two of us.
