The best spa days in Barcelona

Friendly warning: due to the current Coronavirus situation and restrictions that are regularly changing, it’s best to double check before leaving that the venue you’re heading to is open and operating. Deep back massages, a dip in the heated pool with panoramic sea views, and a steam in the sauna. Sound inviting? With all the stress of the pandemic and the effect it has had on our lives, we all need to ensure that we make time for self-care and prioritise our health. For many, there is no better day of relaxation than that of a spa day, and Barcelona is home to so many excellent spas to choose from. Take time for yourself away from the stresses of everyday life, and head for a spa session to slow down and relax. In no particular order, we share our list of best spas for a day of pampering in the Catalan capital. Aire de Barcelona Found in the heart of the bustling El Born neighbourhood, the Aire Ancient Baths are like a step back in time to a setting that looks like it has come straight out of the Arabian Nights. This luxurious spa offers pools to mimic that of the traditional Arab baths: saltwater, icy, cool, warm and hot. Their basic package includes a hammam steam bath but, has options to also include massages and exfoliations on hot marble. This spa is very popular and therefore difficult to book in for, so unlike other spas in Barcelona there is a time limit of two hours on your stay here. Something that also sets Aire de Barcelona apart from other spas, is that if you enter at the last time slot of 9pm, you are able to stay until past midnight. Aire is the perfect romantic and relaxing spa day for two. 1. You’ve no idea how much I’ve missed my spa days. It looks like good news with the vaccines developing. Some travel to Barcelona and a spa day would be a dream. Hopefully sometime in 2021?

    1. Hi Beth,

Thank you so much for your comment, we appreciate it!

Without speaking too soon, it does seem as though there is a light on the horizon regarding the new vaccine that is said to have 90% effectiveness. We’re keeping everything crossed that the next trials of it go well and hopefully life can go back to some normality again.

We’ve missed spa days so much too, there’s nothing better than a full day of self-care and pampering is there? Barcelona can’t wait to welcome you back as soon as it’s safe to do so once again.

      Best wishes,
      Emily

  2. I’ve only been to Barcelona once for a long weekend and I loved it. I want to go back again, though this time a spa day sounds like a great add-on to the trip. Last time we walked so far and it was very warm too. A spa day to revived and rehydrate would be fantastic

    1. Hi Jen,

      Thank you for your comment!

Barcelona is one of the best locations for a long weekend with there being so much to get up to. You are completely right that with so many activities to do and things to see in the city, it can leave you feeling exhausted after (in a good way of course!), so a spa day is the perfect way to recharge to get back out and see more.

A spa day is perfect for any weather, whether taking a cool break from the heat, as you have said, or by escaping the rain for the day.

Barcelona can’t wait to welcome you back for another visit!

      Best wishes,
      Emily

  3. I like spas. Before the pandemic, I used to go to a spa for my massages at least once a month. I miss it. I get stressed working from home and I need some good massage and aromatherapy. Seeing this post makes me wonder how safe it is to go to a spa. Would these spa allow multiple people inside the sauna for example? Or how do they make sure of their customer’s safety? These are some amazing looking spa and wouldn’t have thought that I can consider Barcelona as a spa destination. I guess it’s time to consider that option.
