The first Rosewood Hotels & Resorts property to open in Spain

The most iconic hotel on Madrid’s Paseo de la Castellana boulevard – Hotel Villa Magna – is to become the first hotel in Spain to operate under Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. Situated in the heart of Madrid, Rosewood Villa Magna is located among renowned and architecturally impressive restaurants, shops and attractions. With a refreshed contemporary sense of style and service that speaks to today’s travelers, Rosewood Villa Magna will feature 150 thoughtfully appointed guestrooms and suites, distinct dining experiences and an inspired Sense, A Rosewood Spa. “As one of the world’s most alluring cultural capitals, Madrid is an ideal destination in which to raise the Rosewood flag, and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to join together with our valued partners at RLH to breathe new life into one of the city’s most prolific properties, Villa Magna,” said Sonia Cheng, chief executive officer of Rosewood Hotel Group. “A mecca for arts, culture and cuisine that perfectly balances the old with the new, Madrid offers the perfect canvas for our guiding A Sense of Place® philosophy. We look forward to bringing our differentiated approach to ultra-luxury hospitality to Spain with this special hotel.” The hotel is centrally positioned, immediately neighboring the prestigious Serrano shopping district, and other well-known nearby landmarks such as the Golden Triangle of Art, home to the Prado, Thyssen-Bornemisza and Reina Sofía Museums. This modern oasis in the centre of the capital’s most luxurious restaurants and shops is coming to Madrid on 15 October 2021. Rosewood Villa Magna will add to Rosewood’s network of distinctive European properties, which currently includes Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco in Tuscany, Rosewood London and Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel in Paris. Additional properties set to open within the coming years include Rosewood Vienna (2022), Rosewood Munich (2023), Rosewood Venice (2023) and Rosewood Hotel, Grosvenor Square, London (TBD).

  1. Excellent news that Rosewood is spreading its wings to Spain. I’ve enjoyed some flawless stays at Rosewood properties in other countries and other continents. Although, there’s no shortage of fine hotels in Madrid it is always good to have a top-class competitor like Rosewood pushing standards ever higher.

  2. For business I end up staying in some very comfortable rooms usually with all the luxuries that I need. But I could be anywhere in the world.

When I travel for a holiday a sense of place is very important to me. A pat on the back to Rosewood for championing this one.

I want decor that tells me more about the place and the people who live there. Too many featureless and uniform hotels devalue the sense of travel.

  3. Location, location, location. Rosewood have given themselves every chance with a very well positioned location in Madrid.

  4. Mid-summer and Madrid is often an inferno. I’ve stayed in Madrid in July and felt uncomfortable.

Though I’m sure that Rosewood have got it all covered. I stayed in one of their hotels in Abu Dhabi and their air-conditioning and design coped easily with 48 centigrade.

  5. Over the lockdowns it’s the city breaks in Europe that I’ve missed the most. Staying somewhere uber-luxurious like the Rosewood and getting to know a city and it’s culture.
